I have a reservation already at SSR for Dec. 10th and 11th. Is there a way for someone to transfer their points to me to use on that reservation? I apologize if it's a dumb question...I'm very new to this...but there is no availability left for a DVC member to book the reservation for me, so I'm wondering if points can be applied to an existing reservation from a DVC member. confused3

I'm totally confused by your question.

Are you a DVC member with a points 2 BR reservation? That holds 8 people, so it seems like you have enough space already.

But then you say there's no availability, so I'm thinking you have a cash resort reservation?

CRO and DVC bookings and rooms are entirely separate - they are 2 different pools of rooms. So you couldn't turn a cash reservation into a points reservation no matter how many points you have.

I think you will have to explain the situation better to get the answer you need.

I have a cash reservation. That's what I was confused about. I was thinking I could contact a DVC member and ask them to transfer their points to me. Obviously that's not an option, then.

Since you already have a reservation, I'm not clear on what you want the member to do, or why. Is it that you think it would be cheaper to rent from a member, so you want to somehow replace your cash reservation with a points reservation?

To expand a bit, as a non-member, you can't do anything with points, since you can't make reservations with DVC. Members can transfer points to another member, to add to their own points to make a reservation, but you don't have a DVC membership to transfer points into. All that a member can do for you is make a reservation for you with their points.

Now, it's possible that a member could make a reservation at SSR for you, and you could then cancel your cash reservation. The problem is, you're traveling at THE most popular time of year for DVC reservations. Many members made their reservations for that week in December way back in January, so trying to reserve in October is hopelessly short notice. If you'd be interested in renting from a member in the future, you really need to start the process much earlier. Members can book their home resorts at 11 months out and other resorts at 7 months out, and if you're traveling at a busy time like December, you should be looking for a member to work with about a year ahead of time.

Are you saying you have a cash reservation, and want to use points for that resevation? If so, no, there is no way to do that.

There has to be availability in the point room inventory.
