Can someone help me with the points math???

OK.. SO IF I BUY 100 POINTS NEXT YEAR .. IS IT POSSIBLE THRU BANKING AND BORROWING TO HAVE 300 PTS FOR USE IN 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 ETC.
OR.. DO I NEED TO BUY 150 PTS?
I WAS THINKING IF THE SELLER HAD 100 POINTS BANKED TO BEGIN WITH THAT IT WOULD WORK .... AND THEN I GOT ALL CONFUSED..

ARE THERE ANY MATH WIZARDS OUT THERE?

Yes, it's possible. You can typically use 3 years' worth of points on one vacation.

For example, if you buy a 100 point contract in 2008, you can bank all of those points. Then you can travel in 2009 by using the 100 from 2008, the 100 from 2009, and then borrowing the 100 from 2010. Voila! 300 points!

but by borrowing in that first year.. doesn't that mess me up for the upcoming years??

Anytime you borrow the following year's points, you risk not traveling one year.

It's important to note that you can only bank your points for one year, so any points that you bank this use year, must be used next use year.

It gets a little trickier if you are buying a resale, which I have never done. Perhaps a resale poster can comment on that.

Well.. how about if I did a points transfer every other year from another member? Would that work? And is that allowed?

You can't travel every other year. You could only travel every three years.

For example:

2008 - Bank 100 points
2009 - Borrow 100 points from 2010. You now have 300 points (2008 + 2009 + 2010)
2010 - No Points (Used in 2009)
2011 - Bank 100 points
2012 - Borrow 100 points from 2013. Three years later you have 300 points again (2011 + 2012 + 2013)
2013 - No Points (Used in 2012)​

And the cycle just continues.

If you had 150 points, it would work every other year:

2008 - Bank 150 points
2009 - You now have 300 points (2008 + 2009)
2010 - Bank 150 points
2011 - You now have 300 points (2010 + 2011)
2012 - Bank 150 points
2013 - You now have 300 points (2012 + 2013)​
