Just back from a coach holiday to DLP which we very much enjoyed.

I have discovered on a previous thread that if I wee to book package through DLP website and then arrange transport it should save me some money but I am a bit clueless and have never done this before.

Can someone tell me how my journey would be on train and eurostar?

I would be travelling from Hull in East Yorkshire so I'm assuming a train hull to london, then london to eurostar (?). Also I know this is a silly question but there is a eurostar train for people to walk onto isn't there??? We only saw the big train carriages carrying coaches and lorries.

How does the eurostar to DLP work? Does it go straight there or do you transfer onto another train??

Sorry for lots of silly questions but I want to be sure as would be travelling just me and DS with his wheelchair and our suitcases and I would want to feel confident about the journey - and make sure I booked the right train tickets!

You're confusing Eurostar with the Eurotunnel.

Eurostar is a passanger service, Eurotunnel is for cars.

You can get on the eurostar at either London St Pancreas (central London) or Ashford (in Kent).

You get on the eurotunnel in Folkestone.

For Disney there are several Eursotar options:

Get a direct train to Marne La Vallee (Disney). This is the easiest way but is often the most expensive.

Get a train to Lille and then transfer to a TGV train service to Marne La Vallee. This is easy enough to do.

Get a train to Paris Nord and then use the RER system to get to Marne La Vallee. This is the most difficult journey and is it take a lot longer. I've done it before but it's not fun if you have kids and luggage. It's probably the cheapest Eurostar option though and you can often get 2-4-1's.

You can book all of the above on the Eurostar website. If you go to Paris Nord, you will have to get RER tickets from the station when toy arrive in Paris.

Hi..
They are not silly questions, either you do or you don't know and you are right to plan it.
As the PP said there are options available but maybe because you have a son in a wheelchair a more direct route would be better then constantly swapping trains. I believe the trains from Hull arrive into London Euston..so you will have to bus, tube or taxi to St Pancras station to catch the direct Eurostar (the pasenger only train) and then you can sit back and relax until you get off at DLP. You don't have to worry about getting off at the correct station because it is the end of the line for this train. The station, which you prob know already, is right outside the gates of both parks and you can catch a free bus to your resort hotel outside as well. It just makes for a VERY long day if you start swapping and worrying about connections etc but obviously this is the most expensive way to get there and if money is what concerns you more then as the pp said the other ways are less money (but not loads less). We have caught the TGV before but had to wait for a couple of hours for the connection but its not always the case.
Have fun planning.:)

Here's a map showing the two London Stations so you could infact walk it very easily!

You may be able to get a through fare from your nearest train station to DLP with Eurostar. These options are usually only available up to 3 months in advance, but might be worth calling them (they are very helpful on the phone) to see if this is an option for you.

Yes you can definitely walk between Euston and St Pancras - Ive done it several times- it takes about 20 mins and to be honest its easier than using the underground. However it depends if you can manage it with luggage and a wheelchair as well.

You would probably need to factor in a night in London as you wouldnt get from Hull to London in time for the Eurostar - there are several cheap hotels (Travel lodge etc) near the stations

Hi,
may be more info than needed but this website is great for info on European train travel- here's the DLP bit - http://www.seat61.com/France.htm#London_to_Disneyland_Paris by Eurostar

also includes details on pricing up tickets from outside London

Euston to St Pancras on foot is MUCH easier than the tube - and as it's a straight route along one road may be easier than transferring on and off tubes with a wheelchair and luggage (or even hop in a cab). I know some people on here stay the night before at one of the hotels near St Pancras, so they can get an earlier Eurostar.

Eurostar makes for a relaxing journey - can take your own food and drink with you and trains are nice and comfy.

I did the change at Lille in June and had about an hour between trains - very easy to change platforms. There is a lift to the platforms for the wheelchair (better than some UK stations!).

This is my first DIY trip too, also will be first time on Eurostar. I found the customer service at Eurostar excellent, call them up and talk through your options. To give an example we're taking the direct Eurostar from St Pancras to DLP, the journey is 2hr44 (or something like that) I paid £266 return for 2 adults and a child. The indirect journey we would have to change at Lille and it worked out £198 for the same party, I just thought for our first time we'd play it safe :thumbsup2

We'll be getting the train from Manchester the day before, I've got a railcard so that helps with the fares there and staying with a friend overnight.

i think most people are apprehensive before their first trip on the eurostar, myself included, but trust me, the eurostar is an amazing, relaxing way to travel to disney!

The only one bit of advice i would give to anyone who comes back from disney and gets off at ashford is too get your luggage ready before you stop at ashford as the train stops for literally 2 mins and then buggers off again! this almost caught us out last year and if it wasnt for 2 fellow passengers who managed to get hold of my 2 suitacses for me which were stuck underneath a wheelchair id have been in serious trouble!

apart from this its a fabulous means of transport, and i wish all trains in the uk were like the eurostar as im sure we'd all travel by train much more frequently

I have a feeling that trans from Hull run into Kings Cross rather han Euston. If thats the case, then its very simple to get from Kings Cross to St Pancras - they are actually next door to each other.

Euston is a bit of a pain - its where i arrive into London and its always time consuming to get anywhere i need to be!

The only issue you may have is timing. Ive heard people complain that they cant get into st pancras early enough to catch the direct train so have to overnight anyway... Not sure if that will be the case for you.
