Can someone help me to figure out GYMBOREE????

You know what? I think some people that are huge into reselling clothes will line dry them. I don't really see a difference- I have been buying Gymboree for about 6 years and it is all the same, dried or line dried. I think the stains are what will make the biggest difference in resale. As long as it is stain free, you should be ok!

They said "Oh well, then you will love our new store". It is "Crazy 8" and I have checked it out. It is VERY similar to Gymboree and DD immediately said "Mom, do not even think about it". :lmao: Dang it!

There have been too many problems with Crazy 8 for me to even think about ordering from there. Another website you can look at since everyone else is naming names is Gymbofriends.com I like it 1000x more than GR. They are very helpful to newbies also and they have a section devoted to Crazy 8.

Several years ago, down in Texas, Gymboree tried to have a tween store and called it...something with a Z...anyway...we bought a couple of outfits there for dd12, then she was about 9...and not interested really! I was not really excited about the outfits...it did not seem like Gymboree at all, but I guess that was the idea...it went out of business all over the Dallas area...

However, with DS2, we buy ALL 100% of his clothes from Gym and I love that store! BOys clothes are sooooooooo blahhhhhh and at least theirs are super cute! I have really had NO PROBLEMS with fading...not much shrinking...no staining that I cannot get out! I wash all the clothes in dreft and on the gentle cycle...I dry ALL of the clothes...do you think it might make a difference that I have the Kenmore front load washer and dryer? Do you think they maybe gentler on the clothes?? I also only wash his clothes together, none of ours are mixed in AND all denim and brights get washed seperately...does anyone ever use the SHout color catchers in the washer?? I love those things!!!!!!!!!!!

I shop there twice a year during their "big red dot" clearance sales. They happen right after XMas and during the summer (June I think). You can get a 20% off your entire order long-dated coupon off of Ebay (they come from the welcome kits for Gymboree Play and Music), and you get 5% off for using the Gymboree visa and use those on top of the sale prices. I got most of DD's clothes in the next size up from the last sale. I figure that I paid $4-$6 an item after discounts, and then I ebayed the Gymbucks that I earned also. If the clothes are in good shape, I resell them on Ebay for close to what I paid for them. If not, it's no big loss at that price.

Sadly my Gymboree days are coming to an end. For the past 11 years I have spent over $5,000 a year at Gymboree (my kids rarely wear anything else) and DD (11YO) has informed me she will no longer wear Gymboree.

 5K a year?! Do you have like 30 kids or something?! That's wild! I think I spent like $200 total after discounts and Gymbucks and got most of DD's clothes in the next size up. I'm not picky about "lines" as long as the stuff is cute, matches well enough and is cheap.

Oh my gosh! It is soo easy to spend that in a year...I have one DS2 and ALL his clothes are from Gymboree...I buy every hat, sock, shirt, pant, etc of every line that I love...even the lines I do not love, I still get several pieces from each one! I jusy earned $300 in gymbucks for October! I can't wait to see what the holiday line looks like. I have seen some pics, but it does not show all the pieces. I can't resist...and ds2 looks so stinkin' cute in those clothes, I could just gobble him up! They have, BY FAR, the best (cutest) lines for boys!!!! ADORABLE!!!!

FYI- My DD12 has nowmoved on to Hollister and A&Fitch...these are expensive kids! But, well dressed, I guess!:thumbsup2

I've been buying Gymboree for about 3 years now. I am not a full-price shopper. I'm pretty much a clearance shopper.

Gymboree just had a big sale on one of their lines, and I was able to get quite a lot plus earn Gymbucks. Offhand, I think I got my dd 4 outfits (tops plus pants), 3 pairs of socks, 5 hair thingies, and 2 light jackets, and my baby 3 outfits for $100. This is how I shop.

I will be able to resell on Ebay used for the price I paid.

And yes, I do hang all my dd's clothing to dry inside.

Holy cow...I can't imagine having 5K a year to spend on my DD's clothes. I guess if I did, I'd probably spend it at Hanna Andersson instead of Gymboree, though:laughing: I admit that Gymboree is cute, but I guess I don't really get the "line" thing. I get somewhat bored seeing DD dressed in so much similar-looking stuff:confused3

I agree about seeing your DD in the samelooking stuff, but girls have just a broader scope wof what they can wear and what looks cute! Boys are stuck with woodland creatures, trucks and cars, and tools...pants and shorts...nothing else...so for boys, I think GYM has great stuff that is reasonably priced for playing outside and not being afraid to let the clothes get dirty!!
I like a little boutique here called "Wild Child", but he is almost too big for those boutique/baby clothes like Zutano...which I used to buy alot of. My friend on Dallas loves Boden.com (I think that is how you spell it) for some different looks and also crewcuts.com (J.Crew's kids store)...boys clothes are just usually more blah than girls' are. My DD12 used to wear tons of Gymboree, but I also bought her stuff from other places, i.e. Dillard's (dept store in Dallas), KidsGap, whever I found something cute!

Hey, sorry to post twice, but I just got a 30% coupon for Friends and Family for this weekend only...PM me w/ your email address and I will forward it to your.

I'm a Gymboree clearance shopper. I had the 20% mailer coupon I used right after the Gymbucks started, and purchased clearance with it. I spent right around $50 after the discount to get a $25 Gymbucks. Have they had a 20% sale since Gymbucks started? Or did I have a second coupon? I don't recall, but I know I placed another $50 clearance order, after a discount. Now I just did another with the GYMFRIENDS code -- that's why I'm still awake, waiting for midnight to submit my order. Now I have $75 in Gymbucks to spend next month. Ugh! Somebody really needs to stop me. :rotfl:

I just really love being able to get three or four outfits and accessories for not much over $50. It's much cuter and better quality merchandise but at Wal Mart prices... heck, lower than Wal Mart prices. The 'problem' is that DD doesn't need any more clothes. :rolleyes1

Gymboree is addictive! They always find another way to get us back into the store...good marketing! Always coming out with a new line of clothes just in time to roll through the store again!
I am tryingnot to go into the store this weekend with my 30% off Friends coupon...because I have $300 of gymbucks to spend in october. I have to save something to buy then!

I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't care for Gymboree. LOL. I buy clothes at garage sales for $.25 or $.50 a piece. My kids don't get clothes from actual stores. :rotfl: Its a fact that the just LOVE telling people.

LOL, I wish I had patience for that, but I don't. My MIL picks up stuff for DD sometimes, but I abhor going to garage sales and flea markets. Inevitably I come home with far too much junk I really don't need, and not much that I do need, if anything... and I've wasted an entire day in the process. My MIL enjoys browsing, so she doesn't consider it a waste of a day. I'm not a browser, unless I can do it online in between doing other things. :goodvibes

Yep. No sense going if you don't enjoy it. I DO like it, however. And sometimes I even buy things if I know its an outstanding bargain and then resell on ebay. You know, like gymboree clothes for $.25. ;)

Buy on sale, never put it in the dryer (it shrinks and fades!), and you should have good luck with resale. The larger sizes are less popular, but toddler and smaller "big kid" sizes do really well.

Yes, I agree with the washing procedures. I have had several Gymboree items fade, shrink, or colors run(red collar onto white shirt.:headache: ) For the most part they are good quality, but for the prices I am not impressed. I used to attend a very upscale consignment sale twice a year and Gymboree brought big prices if not damaged or stained. Of course, the consigner only got 60%, but it's much better than a yard sale, which will not bring much more than any other brand name. Yard sale folks are looking for things under $1.00, I have found.

I just LOVE Gymboree. I really do not have to think if something matches. The quality is really good. I don't put any of my daughters clothes in the dryer. It does not matter what it is, the dryer seems to fade or shrink the clothes over time. I have found regular gymboree is a much better quality than outlet gymboree. The fabrics wash and last longer. Many people wait for my rummage sale every year for my gymboree clothes.
I am now saving my older daughters gymbo clothes for my other daughter.

I can't believe that I have heard several people say that GYM vlothes fade and bleed and stain! I have not had this problem with ONE thing I have bought and I buy there exclusively! I have pretty much all baby boy lines sincemy DS2 was born. I only had a couple of things stain becuase he was eating without a bib and I knew that type of stain would NOT come out of pretty much ANY clothes!!!! My fault!

I am NO master washer! I dry EVERYTHING!!! Clothes fade somewhat over time, like any other store...especially if it is oneof our "favorites", but not abnormally!:laundy:

On another note, I ALSO eBay all old clothes, because I buy so much...I need to replenish my $$ to buy the next line...and what am I going to do, pack it in a rubbermaid box andstore it in the basement???? We give so many other things to charity that I feel like Gymboree is one thing that people will re-buy for a decent price! People that have bought my gym clothes on eBay always comment on the good condition of my clothes...

I am a Gymboree queen - I never pay full price, except for when I have Gymbucks. They basically give stuff away - every item is on sale usually within 3 weeks of arriving in store, plus, they combine lots of promos together. My children pretty much only wear Gymboree as the quality is the best! I'm not sure what the deal is with people complaining about shrinkage and fading as that has not ever been my experience. We wash everything n cold/gentle cycle and dry on delicate and people are amazed at how good our Gymboree clothes always look - I have a 10 week old and a 4 year old who paints, etc. and it all comes out of her Gymbo clothes with a quick soak in Oxyclean and then in washer. I'm thinking people aren't following washing instructions, or are washing in hot water, which of course may cause problems with fabrics.

Honestly, once people figure out how to work Gymboree, you'll realize how bad the quality of clothes are elsewhere, especially Walmart & The Children's Place as these clothes constantly shrink, fade and run, even when washed in cold, delicate wash.

As an aside, I don't get the whole EBAY thing. Why in the world are people paying more for clothes than from the store, brand new? It shows the huge misconception people have with Gymboree - I would never buy used clothes for more than brand new ones. Makes absolutely no sense to me at all!

Love, love, love Gymboree!! Tiger :)
