I'm trying to work on our budget for our November cruise. Can anyone help me out with a list of things with prices that are not included in our cruise. I'm not talking about onshore excursions or spa prices (I've already found those) but things like mugs, photo packages, arcade prices, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Lets see if I can help...
Mugs- they run about five dollars more than the sticker I believe and the sticker is ( I think) $5.00 a day or $35.00 for a seven day cruise.
Beer mug- $9.99 (refill 22oz at 16oz price)
wine package classic $145.00, premium $265.00
water package (evian 24 bottles) $30.00
Palo-dinner $5.00 pp, brunch and high tea I think were 15.00 or 20.00?
Wine tasting-$12.00pp
beer tasting-$8.00pp
photo package I can't help with we only buy a few photos-they do have neat Christmas cards now though (I am going to get them next year)
Arcade cards- $10.00, $15.00 and $20.00. Hint- the ten dollar card lasts about ten mins.....

Hi Ann :wave2:

There is a charge now for High Tea at Palo? I thought I had read they didn't charge for this. I'd pay for it in a heartbeat though :sunny:

I think the brunch is $10 because it includes champagne? And last I heard, high tea is free.

I probably am wrong! I have only gone to dinner at palo, I assumed since brunch had a s/c that the tea would too.

The 10 picture small picture package is 85.00. No 8x10s included. Those are 20.00 each, but worth it IMO when you consider sitting fees & the time it takes to get little ones dressed up. We have to drive 50 minutes to get to a Sears studio so we did buy the formal one with DH & I. It is our first picture together since our wedding 6 years ago!

High Tea is free, and pretty nice too.

dtuleya,
if you get the lastest copy of the DCL passporters guide, this should help for most if not all the extra charges. we live by the book to help with out budget. we always go extra on most things to make sure we dont go over budget. better to be safe then sorry. when is your cruise in nov 2004?

Add to the items above shore excursions and souveniers, tips, spa services, arcade cards.....

Things to think about....
Do you need bottled water? The ship's water tastes great. If you still want bottled, do you want to bother getting a case at your local grocery store ($3.99 for 24 on sale here this week) or do you want to spend $30 for a case on board?

How many photos can you take with your camera vs. how many do you want to buy? Cruise personnel will take a picture with your camera at the same time that the ship's photographers are taking their picture to sell to you.

I really like the board member who compared cruising to having a child...you can do it on the cheap with hand me down clothes, used crib, etc. or you can do it on the high end with everything new and top of the line. In the end, you still have a child, and particularly in the beginning the differences may not be significant. There are lots of ways to spend money on the ship. Only you can decide which are important to you and where a cost savings will not affect your enjoyment of the cruise.

Do you need soda outside the dining room, or is having it available at 3 meals a day enough? You can drink juice, fruit punch, milk, hot chocolate, lemonade, and iced tea free at all times. Or, do you want to put a 6 pack in your luggage and keep it in the fridge in your cabin???

Do you need the internet package or arcade cards, or do you get enough of this at home?

You get the idea. Prices are available on line at the DCL site (some) and at www.castawayclub.com
