Ok, I don't post too often around here but I do read lots of posts.

When someone posts about something upsetting them or trying to share a story about their good deal, or whatever it may be....WHY do some people feel the need to come to the thread and post nasty, mean things? (Even after the OP asks to not be flamed) What is the purpose? If you don't like what the OP says why do you even bother reading it and answering?

There seem to be some really nice, supportive people on this board. But, then there are some that ...well aren't so nice.

That's all I want to know. TIA

I guess some people feel that they just have to put in their 2 cents, even whent he OP is being sincere. It's the one thing I find a little difficult about the CB. While yes people are entitled to their opinion, unless being asked for it I think they should maybe keep it to themselves, especially when then OP asks not to be flamed.

I think a poster could put their opinions across in such as way as to not be rude or insensitive it they took the time to craft a response in the right way.

I chalk it up to someone having a bad day. You know we all have our moments, myself included  .

Some people can be negative not matter in life or on a board. Nothing you can do about it(except ignore it), it's just the way they are.

I think "don't flame me" comes in the same boat as "no offense". Both are said as a supposed cureall for some the speaker/poster know is offensive. As such, these phrases don't carry much weight.

It makes me feel really bad when I see someone being bashed, even if they do "deserve" it. I try really hard not to hurt people's feelings and I hate to see someone PURPOSELY hurt someone else.:(

My mother always said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!"

Enough said. :D

Because opinions are like noses - everyone has one.

You see a lot of that on the internet - some people can hide behind the compter and say things they might never say in real life. I must commend the DIS and their moderators for keeping things fairly clean and respectable. I have been on other (non-Disney) sites and the people there can get downright mean and nasty! Not fun at all to be around.

I hear enough of the bickering and nonsene with my two kids so I come to the DIS to get away from all that. I try very hard to stay away from any controversial posts....

I agree a lot of people feel safe being able to say rude things on the Internet that they may never say in real life.

A bad day? Hmm...more like a bad year (or decade...)

I try to pass over posts and threads that I may disagree with. Or I try to say something neutral if I feel I want to or must make a comment. But, for instance, there is a thread about kids clothing that I would like to say something negative on but why would I? The thread is all in fun--one where people are sharing something they love. My negative thoughts really don't belong there so I just hit the back button.:) So often it is the same people who are negative/nasty over & over. You have to wonder about their happiness.

Well the ugly, mean people that we come across IRL also have access to the net and post ugly, mean things.

I try never to "personally attack someone", as I wouldn't want it done to me...however, if a person starts a thread - no matter what it is about - they have to be prepared to get all kinds of responses to it. If it's personal and/or "controversial" enough that they "don't want to be flamed", then they shouldn't post it in the first place IMHO. The OP is stating THEIR opinion on a subject and everyone else here has the right to post THEIRS as well.
