Can someone explain the "I'm scared of Clowns" thing?

Those dummy dolls also scare me. :scared:

Oh, Sherry! My eyes! My eyes!!!

Talky Tina! Chucky! Oh, Gawd, no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They all float down here.

Clowns are just creepy. I don't hate them, just don't really care much for them. When I was very young, I stayed at a friends house and they had a clown painting in their room and with the shadows and light, and being 4 years old at the time, I woke up screaming that the face was moving. Of course it wasn't, but I always remember that nightmare.

I just don't trust clowns, they give me the creeps ~ I think they are all pervs who want to grope kids or worse :sad2:

Scary Clowns ick!

For me, it goes back to poltergiest, when the boy is laying in bed and the creepy clown doll is flashed in the lightening, and then it's gone. Next sceen, it's under his bed, and pulls him under.

Me too. I wasn't the least bit afraid of them till I saw that movie when I was 12.

Just sayin.....
THAT is the reason why my oldest is scared of clowns, that movie exactly!

I'm not afraid of them, I just think they're creepy. Poltergeist is what did me in, that and Pennywise the clown from "It."

Then there's always Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

They get under your bed during thunder storms and then when you look under the bed they pull you under!!!

Yep, that's one reason my daughter is wicked scared of them!!!!!!!!!!

I've been afraid of clowns all my life and that's WAY before any of the ones named in previous posts were around. I vaguely remember being at a circus when I was a toddler and a very garish clown getting in my face and frightening me. No doubt this is something that's remained. :confused3

I have always hated clowns. Every picture my mom took with me with a clown, I was crying. Actually, when little I cried with every character, even Santa Claus. Lovely pictures I have of my childhood.

Anyway, I just don't like clowns. They are creepy. As well as dummies. :scared:

I'm actually afraid of anyone in costume. I had to swallow my fears when I took my dd to WDW and it wasn't easy. I almost had a heart attack when Minnie Mouse tapped me on the shoulder. :scared:

John Wayne Gacy - nuff said!

:clown: = :scared1:

That's what my DH always says. He does NOT like clowns and this is a statement he always says.

He will tolerate them when he has to for the kids but usually we just avoid them (except Bozo! He was the only clown that is an exception to the rule.)

Just reading this thread and seeing the pics scares the poo out of me. I never liked them, but being forced by your big brother when you are 6 to watch the part in poltergeist gave me nightmares for months. My parents were ready to strangle him. Then, I remember some movie where they ate everyone and put them in some kind of cotton candy thing. I am sure it looks dumb as an adult, but seeing that as a kid just did me in. I still can't watch poltergeist. I also remember as a kid getting very scared when the commercials for the movie 'Magic' would come on. So yes, dummies and certain dolls freak me out, too!

My Uncle was babysitting me and took me to see Poltergeist with his friends. I was 7. He was 16 or 17. It was thundering outside when we got home. I had a scary willow tree outside my window. There was a clown doll on my bureau. ' nuff said.

Then that freaking Pennywise and John Gacy solidified my clown phobia. :sad2:
I'm not run screaming out of the room phobic (that's snakes and spides) but I am very uncomfortable around them and it's certainly not because I think it's cool.

I am not afraid of them, but I think they are creepy.

BTW Taylor, Brutus is beautiful. It is my dream someday to have a gentle giant in my family. Thank you for sharing his picture. :)

My fright of Clowns stems from John Wayne Gacy and for some reason I recall my father telling me never to get into a car with a clown. This was like Kindergarten age. Ever since the I've been terrified!!
