Can someone explain the "Croc" phenomenon to me?

Hi, everyone! :goodvibes

I see tons of people wearing these "croc" shoes, but they never quite appealed to me until I saw the most darling pair on Disney Shopping's website.

I googled for, "What are croc shoes?" to find some information, and I found an informative article on WebMD about them. I have flat feet and the article addresses that they might be good for that.

My two questions are:

1) Does anyone own the adult crocs from Disney's website, and if so, what do you think?

2) I want to purchase these crocs for our Disney trip in December, are these good for walking around in, being by the pool, etc. What do you wear them for? :goodvibes

Thank you for reading and have a magical day! :wizard:

I think they became popular because they are sooo comfortable, unbelievably lightweight, and odor resistant. Because there is so much walking to do at theme parks, people are always looking for comfortable shoes! Now crocs are the big thing at Disney with several versions of Disney crocs are available. I really think the kid crocs are cute (I can't say that about any others yet.) I did try the Crocs Capri (flip flops) because they're not ugly, but they're really not as comfortable as other crocs. I wore them to Six Flags yesterdays and got blisters on my toes from the funny little hump in the sole.

I have the pearl/pink adult Disney Crocs and LOVE them!! I bought them from the Crocs website. I wear them for everything except church. I'm a nurse so I can even wear them to work! They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, except for my Tink house slippers!

I have the pearl pink Disney crocs as well. I bought them locally so I was able to try them on first. I did have to wear them with socks for quite a while until the bumps inside wore down because they bothered me, but now I wear them barefoot most of the time, and with socks when it's cold out. I love the comfort most of all, but I never would have bought them if they hadn't come out with the Mickey ones!

I'm a nurse too, but we're not allowed to wear any shoes with holes on top at work due to OSHA regulations, so I have a pair of coral pink Croc professionals for work. My work ones definitely run smaller than the Disney ones. I bought one size bigger, but they're still smaller than my Disney ones, so I don't know if the Disney ones run big or if the professionals run small. I'm thinking the Disney ones run big because mine are a size 3M/5W, and I normally wear a 6 1/2 or 7 wide. My professionals are a 4M/6W, and they're a little small, but I've only had them for a couple of months, so I'm hoping they'll stretch out a little more with continued wear. My feet don't even hurt after working a 12 hours shift!

I have the inexpensive "Wal-Mart brand" Crocs. I decided, what the heck? They were only $5. And they are sooooo comfortable. Now I'd like to get ahold of those Pirates ones..... pirate: And I usually have problems with shoes due to nearly flat feet and my right heel hurting after a bit... but not so with these.

They are very convenient to put on when you need to run outside and do not like to go barefoot. My husband thought they were ugly then I bought him a pair. He loves them now! I like being able to just slip them on.

I'm another nurse who lives in my Crocs. I have about 20 pairs (Beach, Aspens, Athens, Niles, and Cayman styles). The Beach, Caymans, and Aspens are the most comfortable and are what I wear to work. I don't particularly care for the Niles or Athens. As another poster said the little ridge just below the toes gave me blisters and the toe post on the Athens are just too big.

Another shoe you might want to try is the Montrail Molokini flip flops. I've found I like them better than my Crocs for WDW.

I always had problems with blisters no matter how well broken in the shoe was so when I saw so raving on here about crocs I gave them a try for our '06 trip. I had the beach ones and the strap must have been a little lose because it was where I got a blister and I had to go to another shoe. I had to wear socks or apply a substance like dry stick deodrant to the top of my feet but I love them. I have about 6 pair of them. Just give yourself some time to break them in before you leave.

I've got the cayman, beach, maryjane, endeavor, Disney beach, and the new alice ones.

I love them ALL but for different reasons.

I actually prefer the fit of the cayman's over the beach, simply because there's not SO much space between the shoe and my foot. I use Band-Aid blister block if I wear them with no socks but during the school year I almost always wear socks anyway. I teach so I wear them all the time and they're fantastic!

When I first saw them I thought they were ugly too...but then I tried a pair on and squealed - they were that comfortable! Now I don't care what they look like. They're so ugly, they're cute! I've got tons of Jibbitz too to stick in the top to make them more fun.

The Alice ones are DEFINITELY not wear-to-walk shoes like all the other styles. The inside of the shoes hit in a low spot on your foot and since that spot doesn't usually have friction, it can easily blister. Blisterblock fixed that, but it's definitely a weird spot to hit. They're so cute though I keep wearing them-I'm sure over time I'll build up a tolerance. I just bought a second pair of them yesterday! :D

Hi, my name is GBShorts and I have a Croc addiction.

To answer your questions:

1. I love the Disney Crocs. They do seem to run a bit big, but they're still cute. I've got red with the black strap and wish I had gone the other way, but since I already had black in the beach and mary jane styles, I didn't want a third black pair. Oh well!

2. They're perfect for being around water. In fact, I believe that's what they were originally designed for! I've found that if I'm outside and my feet do get wet, they're dry within moments! I wear them everywhere for everything. I'm even going to wear my Alices to a wedding this weekend that's outdoors and expected to be very rainy/muddy! No sense in wrecking shoes that won't stand up to the water and these are so cute I can wear them with a skirt ;)

There are many, many reasons why my family of 5 (2 adults and 3 young boys, ages 9, 6 and 6) loves Crocs:
1) Comfortable - orthotic footbed that molds to your feet
2) Lightweight - weighs only 6 oz
3) Vented - to let air, sand and water pass through
4) Bacteria and Odor resistant
5) Carefree - Easy to clean with soap, water and bleach
6) Quick-Dry - No more wet, soggy socks after Kali River Rapids
7) Slip-resistant Non-Marking Sole

My kids wear their Crocs every day of the summer and I never have to yell at them for stepping in puddles or mud. Our entire family wears them to Disney World where we can sometimes walk for 12 hours non-stop! When we get back to our room, NOBODY has any complaints that their feet hurt. In fact, my legs aren't even tired!

As for the people who have encountered blisters from wearing Crocs, my best guess would be that they are not wearing the correct size. According to the makers of Crocs:

"They should fit very loosely.
The sides of your foot should not really touch the sides of the shoe.
Your toes should never make contact with the front of the shoe.
Once you have centered your foot on the foot-bed:
You should have about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of space in front of your toes, behind your heel and when you lift the strap you should be able to comfortably get your finger between the strap and heel.
In other words the fit should be "loose".
I know that this goes against everything that you have ever been used to in a shoe, but these are the parameters that the shoe was designed to be worn under.
No Pressure points Ever!" :flower3:

My son wore the crete flip flops this trip and had trouble with his arches. He has flat feet like me. Not right for him. I do like that they are good around water though. I bought a pair of the womens Ithaca flip flops for myself. The arch doesn't fit me perfect so I will only wear them around the pool or beach or around the yard for a short period. This trip I just came back from I wore Merrell Savannah's and Merrell flip flops. They are the only one's that my feet love and arch fit me just right. :hippie:

My husband thought they were ugly then I bought him a pair. He loves them now! I like being able to just slip them on.

Mine, too!!! DH just did not understand what all the hype was about, until he got his own pair... he has the "off road" crocs.

I have several pair (3 or 4 caymans and 1 MaryJane) and I have never had a problem with blisters while wearing any of them. I've worn mine with and w/out socks... they are sooo comfortable. My DD6 and DD4 each have two pair of the kids cayman; DD6 is now asking for a pair of MaryJanes for herself! Both my girls wear their Crocs just about every day and neither one has had any problems, either.

I was also dubious, but after my podiatrist told me that Crocs would be good for me, I bought some. I have flat feet, occasional plantar fasciatis, and am diabetic! I got the Rx crocs from the Croc website, and I have found them very comfortable around the house and at work. At first I wore the very thin, low-cut socks under them because my feet were sweating, but I discovered the liquid baby powder (from the dollar store) keeps my feet nice and dry!:thumbsup2
Next, I'll see how they do at WDW!:cool1:

I swore I would not buy a pair and now I have 2...I wear mine as yard shoes and pool shoes...I am not sure about wearing them as a fashion statement...I am not there yet! However, I do think they are cute and they appeal to me even more now that I ahve been wearing them all summer long and they are SOOOO COMFY! I think they would be great for WDW because they are waterproof and they will not stink...they also do not rub blisters!

I just have to add that I just got the Hallmark exclusive ones called Audrey. They have the shape of a bedroom slipper with a grosgrain ribbon on the top and their signature holes on the tops and sides. SO CUTE.

They feel like you're walking on clouds. I think they're my new favorites!

I looked all over the internet including the crocs site and the hallmark site and no luck so I took a photo myself:

It is a sickness that no cure has been discovered for as of yet. A sudden desire to were something that is very ugly on your feet.:rotfl2:

I have to fight my husband for mine. He really needs to go and buy his own. I can search the house for them only to find them on his feet.

Hello, my name is Gretchen and I have a croc addiction.....
Ok, they are the ugliest shoes next to Uggs that I have ever seen, and I love them. LOVE my crocs. I have a blue pair, pink disney and red disney. Oh, and a ton of jibbitz. I would have more colors, but my husband cut me off. I'm going to have to have them delivered to the neighbors.....no, new crocs, no, I've had these honey, don't you remember...??? :rotfl: I even wore them in the water at a water park. I had to follow my son around and just can't go barefoot very long, especially on concrete. They are great.:thumbsup2

Don't feel bad! I have several friends who HATE my crocs and have NO PROBLEM telling me that everytime I am wearing them! Mind this, I really only wear mine in the neighborhood walking my DS2 in the wagon, inthe yard..swinging my DS2, and to the pool...AND my friends still feel the urge to talk about them all the time! I wish they would zip it, because I do not tell them everything I do not like about what they are wearing or what they look like all the time! Do I hear an amen to that!!?? WORD!
