Can someone explain skyauction to me? I have looked at the site and the threads on it, but I'm still confused. The site asks for credit card info. Does that mean that they charge you right away? Do you have to take whatever you win? I'm very confused.

Skyauction will charge your card once your dates have been confirmed. If it is an auction for a specific resort on one specific arrival date they may start the charge shortly after the auction.

We recently won an auction for a 2 bedroom condo. The auction had multiple resorts and dates. We won on a Monday. We requested the resort and dates we wanted shortly after the auction ended. They confirmed the dates we wanted on Wednesday and processed the credit card charge that day. We received the email confirmation with the link to print the voucher Thursday morning.

They usually don't charge until your dates/resort are confirmed. That way, if your resort is not available for a specific date you can choose an alternate. They are doing a better job now in regards to resorts on the auction being available. I kept track of the same auction type we won a couple of weeks ago. Shortly after we got confirmation of the dates we wanted it dropped from that resort on the same auction that was still open

Last year we won an auction and chose a resort but it was sold out even though the auction still showed it as available. That ended up being a good thing since the resort we initially wanted has received poor reviews.

If your resort is unavailable and they can't offer you something comparable they will refund your money/not charge you, but we have yet to have that happen to us.

You bid on a particular auction, so you know ahead of time what you are going to win. They will charge you if you win, so you can't change your mind(although I have read of instances where they did let people change their minds)

I bid on the ready set go auctions. Before I bid, I made sure that there was something available where and when I wanted to go. You can usually win these for 50-60. Then add on the fees, and you end up paying about $265 for a week in a 2 bedroom condo.

There is a section at the top labeled 'winners'. You can look on there and see what auctions you are interested in have been won at in the past(they generally run the same auctions over and over again).

Skyauction is a great deal, and I have not had problems with them yet. As far as I can tell, they auction off excess timeshare and hotel space.

The best deals can be found at the 'ready, set, go' auction. I don't think the nightly rentals are usually such a great deal.

There are a few auctions that they have posted that look like they are timeshare deals, but they are labelled that way. Don't bid on those unless you want that kind of deal. You do not have to do a timeshare deal with the regular auctions.

I have won 3 times in Orlando(most of their rentals seem to be there), once in the Wisconsin dells, and a cruise.

Let me know if you have more ?

I have won 1 auction with them. Got a 2 bd/2bth for a great rate in Orlando.

You don't need to put your CC# in before you win something(unless it's a last minute auction) so if you don't win anything-they never need to know.

We haven't taken our trip yet so I can't comment on what kind of services you receive when there(if they are any different than a normal hotel/resort booking) but when I return I will definately post.
