I have *NO* clue what this is, or how it works.

If we can see the pictures online and order prints, is buying the CD still a good value?

If we buy the CD do we get the rights to do our own prints at any photo lab when we get home?

Thanks for any info/opinions you can offer!

Quoting from the park map:
"1. We'll take the pictures and give you a Disney's PhotoPass card.
2. We'll keep them organized. All photos taken of you by Disney's Photopass Photographers in each Park will go right onto to your pass.
3. You can view them online at www.DisneyPhotoPass.com and share at no charge. (online registration required. PHotos will be available online for 30 days.) Then order prints! You can also view and order them here in the Park at ____________."

Ok - in layman's terms:
Take photo w/ official Disney photo person...they hand you a little blue credit card that they swipe on a machine held at their waist. You keep the card.
The next time you see an Official person taking pics you get in line, take pic, hand over the same card and they scan it again....
The pics will all be associated with your online account......Take as many pics as you want.....Take lots and lots!

From reading these boards- some have said that you can purchase a burned copy (on CDrom) of all your photopass photos for a flat fee of $99 before leaving Disney......
If you pose for at least 99 photos that would be $1 each......etc. Once you have the CDrom you can do what you want with them. Ordering them offline would get expensive.

So best bang for your buck is to purchase the CD and take LOTS of official pics with every photo person you can find!.

Does this help?

the only thng is that to order them online is about 12 a picture so if you get lots of pics it would be worth it to buy the cd. I used it in dec and when i got home did not order any of the pic because they just were too expensive. you can get the photographers to take a pic with your camera as well.

so then if you buy the cd you dont have to order prints, right? You can just print them out on your own? I'm still a bit confused. I would buy the cd for $99 and then have to go and get the photos printed out anyway..correct?

I do not know if you can print them off your computer. But the CD is well worth it. My DS just returned and he and DGF loaded up the CD with like 300 pictures. WDW even puts all the borders on the pictures before downloading them on to the CD. There are a ton of different themed borders as well. And then WDW gives you the RELEASE/WAIVER in the jewel case for you to go to any (CVS, Wal-Mart, Costco, BJ's) to get the pictures developed. On the WDW Photopass Website the pictures are $13.00 EACH and only size they offer is 5x7. You can get those pictures developed for pennies on your own and NOT have to get 5x7, you can get the usual 4x6! Have the CM's take many many pictures and all sorts of poses even at ONE spot. Go UP to every CM you see that is a photographer in the PARKS and IF they do not ask to take your picture YOU ask them and they are all very accommodating. Then just hand them your photopass card and they will scan it.
You can get the CD ONLY at Mickey's Toon Town, GF, and EPCOT (next to Space Ship Earth).

This DOES NOT include the Souvenir photos taken on RIDES at WDW. These are just the photos as you walk about the PARKS.

Hope this helps.

We will be at Disney for 2 days, gone for 5 days and then back for another day. Will we be able to keep the same "account" for the 3 days even though there is the 5 day lag in the middle?

Yes, you can just print them now any way you want to; Walmart or at home if you have a nice printer.

You mention getting in line...are there lines to get your photo taken at specific spots? Or do the photographers just wander the parks and take your photo wherever you happen to be (or wherever you want)?

Thanks.

IF there are characters there MAY VERY WELL be a line. If the photographers are just wandering just simply ask them. Bottomline: LOAD UP THE CD.

Years ago, they never had the organization like they do today. When my sons were little I never saw a photographer or a line for the characters(it was bascially helter skelter). And, the characters were just signing their autograph book and DH or I would take their picture. Now it is awesome, you have a very orderly line and you have a WDW photographer.

There are very specific spots as well in all the Parks for photo opportunities...MK/castle...AK/tree of life...EPCOT/spaceship earth etc!!

But also remember they do wander. Hope this helps.

The PhotoPass CD is WONDERFUL. My CD had 236 images on it, 163 originals and the rest were either cropped, lightened or had a border added. I did notice the only ones with a Disney copyright were the ones they did something to. The original 163 did not have the copyright marking on them.

One of the highlights for me was the photos they took of my nephew in the parade. I had asked a photographer if she was allowed to be on the street during the parade, and if so could she get a couple pics of my nephew.....

I would never have been able to get shots like this from the sidewalk.

the pic in my siggy is cropped from a photopass pic as well.
