I always fly southwest and have never flown on AirTran before (mostly because of their baggage fees). So I booked a trip to Florida next week for on the Southwest website, but one of my flights is operated by AirTran. How does seating assignments work? I logged on and see where I can reserve our seating assignment for $10 a piece . What happens if I don't do this? I realize we get whats left, but how do they board? Do I need to check in 24 hrs before like Southwest? or is it first come first serve?
Also, since I booked through southwest, I won't have to pay for our first bags will I?
