I go to the Disney website to book a room for a small trip just to get away for a few days. I was trying to book Caribbean Beach from Nov. 14th to 16th, which is two nights. On the website it says "Rooms from $139 to $215 per night", but when I put my request through it comes out to a balance of $350. So how do I get the rooms that are $139 a night. I was expecting it to be $280. Now I understand there may be some taxes on the room, but $70 in taxes? I've tried doing it during the weekdays as well, figuring that maybe it was more expensive on the weekend. Can someone explain to me what is going on? Thanks!

When it says fro 139.00 to 215.00/night,it means that during the most inexpensive time of the year the price is 139.00. Apparently, during the time the you plan to visit, the rate is more like 175.00. I can understand how it might be misleading. If you have a AAA membership, call Disney reservations and they can book the room and let you know if you can get a AAA discount.

The $139 may be the base price for value season. I believe the first half of November is regular season so that could account for some of it. The taxes would be 12.5%. Hope that helps some!

Be careful re AAA "Discount Rates". I reserved a room last March for the 20% off rooms from Dec.4-9. I went in yesterday to convert it to a package at the "AAA Discount Rate" and it came out to $200 MORE than on the Disney website. Same date, same tickets, same dining plan. I called them today and got a major runaround. The TA I worked with said she "didn't know why" it was more and that I was the THIRD client who had had that difficulty. If that was the case. you would think THEY would find out WHY. But all they care about is getting their commission. :furious: When I really pressed them for the reason, they said I was getting some "perks" like free parking (can't use it because we are using Disney Transportation) and discounts on meals (can't use it because we are on the dining plan---which THEY sold me!) I now have a complaint lodged with the BBB. Don't make the same mistake I did in believing that a AAA Discount Rate means you are actually getting a discount. You're not!

Expedia has a rate of $155 listed for arrival on 11/14 - 11/16, so with tax that would be approximately $171 per night. Value season is 11/26 - 12/19, when the rate is $139. I think I would call central reservations and ask if they have any special offers, or if there is a code attached to your name.

I've booked the AAA rate on a room only reservation through Disney and I've always been very happy. Same with Universal and no problem :confused3 . Does the AAA travel Agency have a change fee?Anyway,I'm sorry that you're having a hard time and I hope it gets resolved to your liking,

1) I don't bother with AAA for anything other than towing my car. The internet made them obsolete for anything else. You can STILL get the discount, straight from Disney. At least the room only-rate. I never get using a TA of any type to book Disney - why use a middleman when Disney makes it all pretty straightforward.

2) To the OP, as others have said, Disney's site is indeed correct. The dates you are looking for are during "regular season". You can usually be assured when any company says a price is "From..." that the lower figure is going to have certain conditions. One of the conditions here is that in order to get the lowest price you need to go during "Value" season.
