Which restaurants have which characters and is it breakfast, lunch or dinner? And can you pre-book if you are staying off-site?

This looks like a good resource: http://www.wdwinfo.com/just_for_kids/character_dining.cfm

I've been to Chef Mickey's (breakfast), Tusker House (lunch), Crystal Palace (breakfast) and 'Ohana (dinner--no characters) and from a food perspective, Tusker House and 'Ohana were faves, and I wouldn't recommend Chef Mickey's, but the draw is that Mickey is actually there. We're trying Cinderella's Royal Table in MK during our next trip, which features the Princesses, of course.

I'm 99% sure you can book without having a room:

are you talking about DLP littlejen?

If so, the current character meal locations are -

Inventions (characters there every evening for dinner, plus every Sunday for themed brunch)

Cafe Mickey (breakfst, lunch, or dinner)

Chicago steakhouse Sunday brunch

Golden Forest at the Sequoia Lodge breakfast

and thats your lot really for character meals at DLP (unless you can pay for breakfast in the Empire State Club at the Hotel New York, like the Golden Forest at the Sequoia Lodge).

You can go to all or any of these if you are staying offsite.

Yeah, I meant at DLP. We are not going for over a year but I was wondering.

As a side note we love Royal Table, Chef Micky and Tusker House at WDW.

There is also Auberge de Cendrillion for a Princess meal.

Wish they would bring back something similar to the old Lycky Nuggett or BBQ cookout character meals they used to do.
