Can someone explain borrowing?

I have never needed to borrow points before now. I am booking 6 rooms tomorrow (hopefully) for an extended family trip. The trip will be in May. Is it best to borrow points from my August use year or my December use year. If someone cancels, will either use year make a difference? Thanks!

I'd recommend that you borrow from your December use year. If you need to cancel one or more of your reservations, you will have a longer period in which to use them.

Once you borrow points, they remain in the use year into which they were borrowed. You must use them or they will expire.

I'd agree, the December use year. This would not only give you more time but it might allow you to bank other points if you had to cancel.

Thanks for the info from both of you. Hopefully nobody will need to cancel plus *most* of the points won't need to be borrowed. However, those that do will come from my December use year. Thanks again.
