Can someone explain a Circle Journal to me and how do I start one?

Scrapjazz definition is "A themed album that is passed throughout a group of people, each person completing a page/layout in the album before passing it to the next person."

You create an album with sign in pages, and a theme. Then you do your layout for the theme, and send it on it's way. You always mail to the next person in the circle, and get your album back at the end with all the lay outs from your circle of friends.

My first one was a recipe album, themed pages of your favorite Disney character. It was so cool to get all these recipes and see everyone's favorite characters. I learned alot of new things, as the books went past.

I have done 3 or 4 now. But they take forever!!! LOL Most are a year long commitment. I love getting my books back though. Every page was so unique.

Circle journals are an actual album where you think of a theme that you would like through out the entire book. Something special or that interests you. My first one was

Then you make an introduction which tells everyone about your book and a little about yourself.

You also create what we call Sign In pages - This will be where everyone you receives your book will "sign-in" letting ou know they participated in your album, The sign in tags can be anything. In this particular book I used mini bags. Everyone then decorates thier own tag and puts it back in the book.

then your book is passed around to everyone in the Circle that signs up. Each month you receive a new journal as well as pass on another journal. You will see some amazing masterpieces.

My first one was called "Letters to Walt" everyone who received my album created a 2 page 8x8 layout with a letter to Walt Disney.

*note* I left them in the page protectors because of 2 reasons. I have not yet read the letters myself I want to take the book to Disneyland and read them under the partners statue so I can read them to Walt. The second reason is to protect the privacy of those who created the pages because of pictures.

Then after how ever many months you get your book back all completed!

NEE- it is by far my most favorite page as well. I look at it and I can't help but just get all giddy. These books truelly bring me so much joy. They also connect you to each and every person that touches them. They are my magical books.

Let me also add this caution...

it is VERY VERY important to do this with ladies that have swapped with us for awhile. I have seen several books get hijacked. This creates alot of stress for those in the circle. It is a huge commitment of time and money for everyone involved. this is not to discourage anyone from joining in the circle. It's just really heartbreaking to have someone who has put so much time and money into an album to not get it back in the end.

Kat your book looks awesome! What a wonderful tribute to such an amazing man.

And you are right, it is such a huge commitment, and not something to be taken lightly. A lot of people are counting on you to be honest and trustworthy.
But when it goes right, wow!!! Those are some of my most cherished books.

Thanks! I loved my theme so much I am thinking to do it again someday. He was an amazing man, he created a world for all of us to enjoy. It's been hard to come up with themes to top this album. It is my favorite of the 3 I've done.
