Can someone describe the taste of the Grapefruit Cake from Brown Derby?

I have read that the Grapefruit Cake from the Brown Derby is absolutely to die for. We aren't going to eat at the Brown Derby, but read on this board that I could request a piece of the grapefruit cake at Starring Roles. Now I am wondering if it will be worth it.....How does it taste? Tart? Does the yellow cake layer taste buttery?

Or should I just get the Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake instead??? :)

I didn't really like it (disappointing to me), but from what I recall it was a heavier cake texture because it was quite moist, KWIM? And very tart as it tastes like grapefruit - no surprise! But it didn't really live up to the hype for me. I don't think they always have it / will get it at the Bakery, but some people have had luck with that.

I thought it was pretty good, not great. It's quite tart. Glad I tried it, but probably won't get it again. If I'm going to have a treat at DHS, I'll get the carrot cake cookie at the Writer's Stop.

Now that's yummy! :thumbsup2

Been there, done that. I was curious about it as well so I ordered it, but didn't care for it either. I'm glad I tried it once so that now I know what it tastes like, but I won't order it again. There are too many other yummier desserts to enjoy.

I like it. I don't think it is buttery tasting. I would say that it is a MILD grapefruit taste, nothing overpowering.

I agree. It was good but too tart for me.
Glad I tried it but won't get it again.
