Can someone clarify how new UY/resort shows up on Member Page?

Hi all,

We just had the deed recorded on a BWV that's a different UY from our existing contracts, so I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of how this works from here.

I've heard some say that you need a brand new ID and membership number, and others have said that it just shows up in your existing member account as a sub-contract of sorts.

Can anyone confirm how it worked for them, and how long after the deed was recorded it all showed up? I don't think I need to call MS for any numbers, right? I'm wanting to book for the February races and I'm getting anxious because rooms are dwindling . Thanks!

As long as it's titled the same as your current deed, then it will show up as a drop-down option on the website in 10-12 days.

Thank you so much! I was hoping it would be sooner than that, though- seems longer than even getting a brand new member number!

I quote new member numbers at 12-14 days. Figure saving two days as an existing member.

Any change to the name(s) on the deeds can cause Disney to issue a separate web account and the contract will not be added to the existing. Even a missing middle initial can cause problems.

Yeah, we triple-checked that they were even in the same order, but you never know when a typo might show up anyway...

As long as that members name is the same (or DVC recognizes it as the same) they should all show up together even if there are different owners.

Different managers at DVC told me that due to security policies if the names are different, they are required to set up separate member accounts with separate logins.

DVD screwed up our BLT direct purchase and set up another member account due to their input error. They eventually fixed it, corrected the name and added it as a pull down to our existing account.

Mine have always been under one with up to 3 use years, things could have changed more recently.

I just called MS (Member Accounting) to see what the deal was, and they told me that for all resales, we would be issued a brand new membership number for each contract regardless of whether they were deeded exactly the same, and that we would need new account information for each contract. Surely this is not correct?

FWIW she also said that some emails had gone out recently advising them that they could no longer check in the system and give out member info to people before they received their packets in the mail. Not sure how much credence to give that.

Nope, no way they'd start creating new memberships for each contract.

However, it does seem like it's gotten more difficult to get new member information over the phone.

Agreed. It will be a new membership with a different UY but it can be set up to be a drop down option on the website so only one log in and they would add additional contracts with the same UY to the master. I can't see anyway that it would be easier for Disney to set up separate memberships for every single contract purchased.

Ok, thanks all! I guess maybe I do have to wait another 4-6 weeks to get the package, but that would be annoying. Maybe I'll call back in a week and get someone who is willing to look up the info.

Does anyone know which department is the one who is supposed to set up the drop down option?

To my knowledge we haven't seen that so far but they could chose to do that if they wanted. But this is really a different issue than the OP is referring to if I understand the OP. They are asking whether it's one computer sign on and you're being told they get different master contracts when historically it would have been combined which could be under one login with a drop down. Two different things. What you were told is far worse IMO but I doubt it's true. Sounds like wishful thinking on that person's part though it is possible and technically "legal" if they chose to do so. I've previously put that in some lists of things they could do to make resales less attractive but you'd think they'd advertise it if this were the purpose. It is one of the reasons I've cautioned buyers about putting too much effort and cost into smaller contracts for future sales insurance purposes.
