I know that in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal - I mean, we're going to DISNEY after all! But, we were really looking forward to staying in the 'movies' resorts for my littles ones sakes ages 2 and 4.

Adding dates to our trip meant we had to switch to sports. I am hoping to get the Surfs Up bldg, which is the better one as far as I'm concerned (judging by the map). But still not thrilled about it.

What are some postitives?? Is the bus trip shorter? Food better... pool more fun... anything... C'mon - tell me the GOOD stuff about All star Sports! please??

The exact same thing happened to me yester day. I was staying from 9/27-10/4, and we extended it to 10/6. We had movies, and if we extended there was only sports or music available for those days. I called back an hour later, and got POP! My DH was WAY excited, because he wanted POP anyway! I would just keep calling something will probably open up. KEEP TRYING! Right before the 45 day deadline some people might cancel too!

Staying in Surf's Up for my mid-Aug. trip. Stayed there once before too. I like the general themeing and the food court. If I remember right, it is the 1st pick-up and drop off on the Disney bus route.

I've in Movies, too, and liked them just as well.

HI, I understand your saddness but i can offer a little brightness. When the buses are sharing I believe sports is the first stop assuring you a seat which is very nice with little ones. You will also be the first to get off upon return. There are a few large areas with sports themeing that would be great for little ones to run around and blow off some energy. You are allowed to go to the other all star resorts to visit and can walk around and see the other characters. This might be fun to do with the older one if the younger is napping. And hey you get to stay longer, there is almost nothing better than that, I am guessing you go free food too. I'd almost be willing to stay in a card board box for free food ;) . I hope you have a wonderful time and maybe as time gets closer you will be able to find a room open at movies. You might even try asking at check in if you have not been able to before then. We have stayed at both and had a lovely time both times. The surfs up building was a great location. We do not like the preferred at movies because it is louder by the pool there. The dalmation building was great. I would recommend a top floor room either place. Less walking by traffic and less neighbor noise from above, the plumbing is kind of loud. We always as for a room on top floor far from the elevator--the best was the corner of the dalmations buliding closest to the main building, we could just walk down the stairs or go to the elevator when we had the stroller. We found the surfs up building at sports to be real close to the main building, we did preferr the back side of it though, it overlooked a courtyard with folliage as opposed to the pool. Sorry this was long, I am sure you will have fun no matter where you are.

Positive- If I remember correctly, the Sports is the first one to pick up and drop off of the All Star Resorts. If you would have stayed at the Movies, you would have been last on the list both times and usually by the time they would have gotten to you, it would be standing room only. So it is a good thing that you had to swap out hotels in that instance.

Hope that helps!!!

I feel your pain, we had our hopes on staying at movies and had to go with music.
Anyone know since I want through a TA if I can try and see if a differnet locaton is open? I tried through the 1800 # to get a ref. request and was told they would not have any of my info. till I check in. Which scared me. You would think they would have that I booked a trip and made a deposit?

We stayed at Movies and I was actually quite disappointed because the only place they said they had a room was in Herbie which is way in the back. It was pretty hard telling my 4 & 11 year old we couldn't stay in Toy Story or Dalmations! Anyway, the location of Surf's Up is very close to food court and lobby and I loved the theming! :flower:

AHHH, you're gonna have a great time. It's WDW and you<re staying ONSITE with FREE FOOD, what more can you ask for?

I have stayed in the football building for my very first trip to WDW, and we have 2 DD's that are not sports fanatics. They were so happy to be at WDW, eat pizza and swim in the pool. They never complained one bit.

Enjoy!

I had this happen to me just yesterday. I was originally booked into POP (my first choice) but then we were going to take my nephew which made us a group of 5, so I changed to POR. Now he won't be coming so for financial reasons we dropped back down to the Values and I couldn't get back into the POP. Music or Sports were my options. I chose Sports - I was a little dissapointed but hey, we'll be in Disney!!!

Don't forget as long as it is a Disney Resort it is still going to be great. We haved stayed at a :cool1: lot of hotels but nothing beats Disney service. :cool1: :sunny:

I clicked this thread and read the OP and was ready to say you'll like it fine... we've stayed at all 3 and we're staying at ASSP this time because we couldn't get Pop Century because it was the best we've seen so far for what WE need.... which is not to wait forever for full buses (standing room only) to drive up (like we did at ASMo) and not have huge lines waiting for buses. ASSP is the best for that- they are usually always first to be picked up, first to be dropped off.

Then I read this!
I called back an hour later, and got POP! My DH was WAY excited, because he wanted POP anywa

ahhhhhh! I hadn't thought about calling back NOW! I thought I'd wait a bit and see if we could get Pop! Now you have me motivated- way to go! I really want to stay at Pop Century this time and we're staying 9/30-10/3... maybe I can get lucky like you!?!!!

I can understand, I got spoiled by POR and am staying this trip at ASMo which is nice but I cant help wishing I could go back to POR or even try CSR but I keep telling myself "be grateful you are going!" Just be positive I am sure you will have an amazing time regardless of where you stay, in fact if your family is anything like mine you wont be in your room much we are gone from 7am until 10 or 11pm and then go swimming before showering and going to bed...

I can tell you one thing for sure, Don't Give up!! Call Disney every day and I can tell you will almost always get to switch. 45 days out EXACTLY call and check. The reservations need to be paid for in full and a lot of people bow out. If it is really important to you, be persistent and you will get it. We called one day, POP was sold out, called 2 hrs. later it was open. Called the next day and got the upgrade that was sold out. It happens all the time, good luck!

I'll keep trying. I called today-no go. She did say that I could call up to 45 days out to try to change without any extra "fee" for doing so- but then others have to cancel within 45 days also... so it's not like I can wait for them to cancel and then call the next day. LOL I'll just keep trying... REALLY hoping to stay at POP this time! Thanks for the encouragement!
