I just got caught talking to another coworker about Stephen Hawking and "A Brief History of Time" and the paradox theory and time travel...

And I was actually all excited over it, too.

I was going to proudly post that I am a nerd, but after reading this thread I don't know if I am nerdy enough. Can you help?

I have an engineering degree, but it is only a BS, but it is from an Ivy League college, but I was rejected by MIT.

I read The Elegant Universe by Dr. Brian Greene which is about string theory, but I didn't understand all of it.

I know what a Hoberman Sphere is but didn't insist that DS call it that when he played with his.

I have opened my computer and installed things, but I have never built my own computer.

I read a lot, but it is rarely technical manuals. I have read all of the Lord of the Rings books, but I can't pronounce everything I've read.

I could go on, but you get the point...

Jrsy Boy maybe you're semi-nerdy. You're quasi-nerdy. You're the margarine of nerdiness. You're the Diet Coke of nerds. Just one calorie, not nerdy enough.
Good question though. Do you have to be all out nerdy to be considered nerdy? Will just a smidge of nerdiness do? I'll go with just needing a bit of nerdiness.

I'm easily a nerd. I love Star Wars, geology, astronomy, geology of other planets, history, geography, Romance languages, computers and perfecting my musicianship. I married a computer geek to boot!

I fall to pieces when it comes to Hot Geeky/Nerdy girls . They are the best!

I married one! She's a mathematician. She can sing back-up to every Barry Manilow song. She has multiple graduate degrees (Math and Math Ed). We bonded on our first date over her Star Wars collection, including the books (and we know who Mara Jade is).

She married me because "I'm the only one she's met geekier than she is." I do build our computers. For DD9's 8th b-day, we built a computer together as a birthday project. In the mid-90's, I published a book on HTML, which was translated into Japanese. I worked for NASA's jet propulsion laboratory for three summers. I was a professor of computer science for about six years way back when. I have more graduate degrees than DW. I'm Disney obsessed. Need I go on....

I scored 50/50. I'm a bit disappointed. I guess I'm more of a tech type than science type. Love history though. I know I've watched a days worth of history channel when Memorial Day comes around. Actually, when pretty much any historical holiday comes around I tend to watch quite a bit of History Channel.
