Can someone at FW right now check something for me?

We will be staying at Fort Wilderness in a cabin for 4 nights in late July. I would like to make a couple of simple meals in the cabin for two of those nights. I am hoping that someone staying right now can check out a couple of things for me at the Meadows Trading post. I would also be interested in hearing about any meals that others have made just using groceries available at the Trading Post. (We won't be there long enough to justify a Garden Grocer order.) THANKS!

Do they sell any type of shredded cheese at the Meadows Trading Post?
Do they sell cheese slices? (Like what you would use to made grilled cheese sandwiches?)
Do they sell spaghetti pasta?
Do they sell any tomato based pasta sauce?

Yes, to all 4 of the above!:flower:

To piggyback on Disbug's response, if they have those items they will be more expensive than what you pay for them at home. But for some folks that's okay if, for example, they arrive via DME from the airport and don't rent a car.

Sometimes it's worth the convenience to walk over to the TP and pick up an item rather than leave the Disney bubble and drive off property.

Thanks all! I did call the Trading Post and the clerk told me they don't sell any shredded cheese - only blocks and slices. We are flying Southwest so I am willing to take some grocery items along, but obviously nothing that needs to be refrigerated. I am trying to see if the extra markup in cost for WDW gift shop prices outweighs the $15 delivery fee for Garden Grocer. Still deciding......

I was hesitant to use Garden Grocer at first but after asking on the boards and seeing that most people had good experiences with them, we tried them out this trip and our order was correct, on time and their communication was A+! But since you aren't going to be there very long and not eating at the cabin a lot it does make sense to go to the store at FW.

Sorry Julylady! I was sure I saw shredded cheese! Must be a discontinued item... (Needed some for tacos, so I was looking for it.) I guess you can bring a small shredder and use the block cheese? Sorry about my wrong-ness! o_O

Hello Julylady!

The Trading Post & Meadows have a pretty good variety, you will be surprised to see what all they carry. However, most everything is double ( or more ) what you pay at your local box store.

You are staying at the Cabins with a fully stocked kitchen. Vacation or not, why not take advantage of it all you can and save a little bit of money as you go.

Will you be drinking bottled water? Sodas? Coffee on your trip? If your answer is yes, and you plan to cooking even just one meal an order placed with Garden Grocer (or other grocery delivery service, there are a few and all with good reviews) and the small fee they charge would be well worth it.

By having your coffee in the cabin, refilling before you head out to the park and bringing a few bottled waters and cans of soda with you in your bag will save you $20 per person a day or more.

Everything has a Disney price tag :) Once inside the bubble, $$$$$.

Plus, you wouldn't have to worry about packing this or that in your suitcase.

Have a great trip!
