Can someone add background/border, please?

My FIL wants to wear this design on a t-shirt for MNSSHP. He wants to put it on a purple or black shirt. I just think it will look funny with so much white around it. Can anyone alter this image for me either adding a colored background--not sure what color would work and/or a border that would help it look better on a dark colored shirt?

The one side is a little "ragged" I just cleaned it up while cutting out the design.
