Plus is it better at breakfast or dinner?also is it better to use own money or 1ts

Kona is one of our "must do" restaurants. :thumbsup2

We've always had great service, and wonderful good quality food. :goodvibes

We love the crabcake appetizers, and have had a variety of different entrees and have loved them all.

One of the things I really love about Kona is that when you order an entree, you get a nice balance of meat, starch and veggie.
Many places you only get one token veggie, like one baby zucchini.
at Kona you get an actual serving of veggies instead of just one.
I recommend the pomegranate BBQ pork chop with fingerling potatoes and smoky greens.
DH enjoyed the steak with mashed potatoes and broccolini.

We love their desserts as well :cloud9:

We have enjoyed our Kona meals as much or more so than our meals at Cali grill or Jiko...

The food was good, but the service that we had for dinner and breakfast was terrible. Our server for breakfast had his comb sticking out of his back pocket. Yuk. It kind of made my stomach turn.

Actually, both servers were on the rude side too.

We've always had really great meals there, but have only been for dinner. Breakfast looks fantastic, too.:thumbsup2

we went there last year for the first time for dinner. Our service was fantastic and our meals were delicious! our meal was soo much better than at Le Cellier. The kids even loved their meals. It was a must do on our list next month!

Their desserts were really good too! :thumbsup2

i liked it better than Cali too. i was eating the filet at cali and had a nice view of the lake and poly and was longing for the teryaki steak i had the night before which was so much better than the cali one. we have always had good service. the sticky wings are amazing, so is the welcome bread and the desserts. i love the ice cream cone with the toppings and cotton candy, it makes me feel like a kid again. kona is a must do!! oh an dthe smoothie was great as well and on the ddp.

Never eaten breakfast, but it is on my list for next time. Dinner was great. I had the shrimp and scallops, awesome!!! It was definitely one of our favorite meals.

I can only comment on dinner.

1. It all starts with the bread with Macadamia nut butter. This bread is fabulous and we always ask for seconds which are cheerfully provided.
2. If you have room, there are some excellent appetizers. Our favourites are the Pot Stickers and the Sticky Wings.
3. Next step are the Entrees. Favourites are the Ribeye and the Teriyaki-style New York Strip.
4. Finally, top things off with several tasty dessert selections. Our favourites are the Creme Brule and the Kona Kone.

We have eaten at Kona 3 times and our service has always been excellent.

We love it for breakfast and dinner! Always great food and good service (there a few servers who are better than others), and love the location! Kids love seeing chocolate Lilo and Stitch too!

It is a must-do for us each trip, Tiger :)

I've eaten both breakfast and dinner there. I preferred dinner. You can get the Tonga Toast at Capt. Cook's for less money and it's just as good.

I will say that Kona was so loud when we ate dinner there that I wouldn't go back just because of the noise level.

We've had two dinners and two breakfasts at Kona. The first dinner, our server was fantastic - she made a big fuss over our granddaugher's first trip to WDW and she was on the ball with everything. As pp said, you get a nice plate of main entree and sides. The second dinner we had a server who perhaps was just finishing a bad day. I don't know what her problem was but she was the type who could not deviate from the rules as she understood them to be. Because younger granddaughter had been given a choice of carrot sticks as her side 3 nights earlier we requested them again. This server said they were not on the menu. I said I believed that the ones that were offered (and delivered) on our previous visit to them a few days earlier came from Ohana (next door to Kona Cafe.) That didn't budge the server, she said "they must have taken them off the menu since you were last here." So GD did not have any veggies that day (she's a picky eater.)

Kona's dessert choices are great! When you visit for your first time the hostess will take you to the refrigerated display to show and describe them all to you.

There are several breakfast selections that are delicious and the servings are huge. Also, if you are a coffee drinker you can get decent coffee instead of the stuff they have in most of WDW.

The decision on whether to use 1 TS or pay OOP depends on what other places you plan to eat. If you have more TS ADRs than your allowed number then pay OOP for the meal(s) that would be the least expensive.

We LOVE Kona. For so long it was like a secret place that always had availability. Now when 'Ohana is full, the send people over there, and with the darn dining plan, it is always busy.

We've had reservations at 'Ohana twice and when we got up there asked at Kona if there was a chance of getting a table, and we gladly tossed the 'Ohana reservation aside.

The food is very good, and the portions while they look small, are just perfect.

LOVE Kona dinner! It's become a must do for us now. DD#1 states this was her favorite meal in WDW. I love the mahi mahi and desserts!!!!!!!:lovestruc

On my last trip, my mom wanted to try Kona. I wasn't very excited about it but I made the reservation anyway. Well, I was so glad I did! This was my favorite dinner. The bread is wonderful- we asked for seconds. I had the crab cake appetizer and shrimp and scallops entree which were both delicious. The creme brulee was also quite good. We also received excellent service. It is a definite must do on our next trip.

We have breakfast at Kona every trip, and have enjoyed lunches there as well. At breakfast, as others have mentioned, real Kona coffee is available -- a vast improvement over the swill that passes for coffee at other WDW establishments. There are breakfast entrees that are unavailable elsewhere (I'm not a Tonga Toast fan so I'm not talking about that), and frankly finding ANY kind of unique menu items at WDW these days is a challenge.

We've always had good service, we enjoy the decor and the excuse to visit the Poly -- it does feel like a special destination in every way.

I think Kona is a hidden gem. We have been to WDW every year at least once for over a decade now and never heard of it. We went last year and even had our infant daughter with us. The CMs were the most helpful and accomodating of anyplace we had been. The food was delicious. and the desserts WOW! I love that it's nice and quiet as well. They even made room for our daughters stroller since she was sound asleep. Of course, the fact that she slept through our entire meal might be why It is one of our most enjoyable meals, LOL

This is my meal exactly!

We Must be a rare family then, we love the poly, love ohana but hated kona our food was bland, service slow and they stuffed us into a table too small for our family so we were uncomfortable on top of everything else! Haven't been for breakfast may try it next month normally get my tonga toast fix from capt cooks

We really enjoy dinner at Kona. As everyone said, the macadamia bread and butter is fantastic! The service can feel a little rushed sometimes, and it can be loud because of the people waiting at Ohana. We had reservations one night, and liked it so much that we came back two days later and were able to order off the menu while sitting at the sushi bar.

1. Tuna Oscar!
2. Tuna Oscar!!
3. Tuna Oscar!!!

Seriously, from the Macadamia Nut Butter with Hawaiian bread to the Tuna Oscar to the Kilauea Torte, I have never had a bad bite of food there. I also asked (one year when we were not also going to be dining at O'hana) for the Bread Pudding with Bananas Foster Sauce as my dessert, and they gladly brought some over from O'hana for me. I know others have not always had good experiences here, but I have been there a number of times and have always enjoyed it.
