I'm starting a new diet program and I'm a little confused. When it says to eat 4 oz. of Turkey is that 4 oz. before cooking or after cooking? I say it would be after but my girlfriend says no, it would be before.

I say it loses weight after cooking and now we're both stumped :confused3 .

Does anyone know the correct answer? I've tried doing a search on the internet but darned if I can find an answer.

Thanks for your help.

Well, it probably means the weight before cooking. You know how you see a half-pound burger on a menu and the tiny writing says "weight before cooking".

That said, I don't think that extra fraction of an ounce of turkey that you might consume if you ate the post-cooking weight is going to have a big impact on your diet! Live large & enjoy that sliver of turkey! :teeth:

ETA: I'm not a diet expert by a long shot, though, so take that for what it's worth!

4 ounces prior to cooking. If you look on a package of raw meat, it has two "serving sizes". 4 oz and 3 oz. One is the raw serving size and the other is the cooked serving size.

Kind of like if you order a 1/4 lb cheeseburger at fast food. That "1/4 lb" is before it's cooked.

Thank you. We're leaving for Disney in 10 days and I'm using a diet plan that I used several years ago (that worked) called Dropping a dress size in 6 days. Now this is not something I would normally do but I've just put on a few extra pounds so that my summer stuff like capris and shorts are a little snug and not really comfortable. I'm not trying to drop a boat load of weight but I would like to get back into what I had because I am not buying new clothes in a larger size just for this trip. Besides, you can't really find any summer clothes out now. Anyway, I do realize that this is not for the long term but I can do it for 6 days. I'm drinking plenty of water, walking w/ my heart rate in the correct zone and following this diet. However, it did not specify cooked or uncooked just
Lunch: 2 oz. chicken, 1/2 cup rice and 1-2 cups mixed veggies.
I was just eating 2oz. of cooked chicken but my girlfriend was like no, that 2 oz. should be before cooking.
Thanks for your replies and wish me luck!

ETA: Even though I did this several years ago, I can't remember how I did it then. If I weighed before cooking or after but after following it for the week I was able to get into a dress that I needed to get into.
