I heard that in the beauty salon world, etiquette says that the salon owners should not accept tips.

Is this true? Do most salon owners refuse tips?

My hairdresser is the salon owner, and she does not refuse my tips.

I own a salon and I leave it up to the customer, if they want to, that's ok and if not that's ok too:)

Same here Denae - I wish he would refuse tips for the arm and the leg he charges:rotfl:

Mine just recently opened her own salon and I tip her the same as if I were going to her as a non-salon owner. You are tipping for services rendered, if you are happy with the service I would tip, it shouldn't matter if she owns the place or not. Just my two cents. :)

Edited to say I didn't really answer your question. No, my tip was not refused.

The salon I work in the owner does accept tips. But a lot of people don't tip her because of her being the owner.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you tipping the stylist and the owner? or did the owner do your hair? if the latter, I don't know why she wouldn't accept a tip!!
