Can my parents change their AAA reservation?

I'm hoping someone will have the answer to this. My parents have a reservation booked through AAA. I'm pretty sure it is a package. Unfortunately, this particular agent is a WDW no-nothing who has been wrong, wrong, wrong about so much I'm mad and wouldn't trust her if she said the sun came up in the east.

So yesterday I get a postcard in the mail addressed to my parents (I'm assuming it is because I've booked a grand gathering). It has a PIN. I am thinking this would be a much better rate then their AAA rate. Can they change it? I strongly suspect the AAA agent would tell me no instead of doing the work to change it. I don't trust her.

Does anyone know if she can call and get them the better rate?

TIA!

I doubt your parents can change it themselves; technically AAA owns the reservation. We booked thru AAA and called Disney to verify info; we were told numerous times by different CMs to contact our TA, that's what you are paying him/her for (thats an actual quote). If your parents want to use the PIN code because it maybe cheaper, get a quote thru disney directly; if it is indeed less expensive with the PIN code the AAA ressie could be canceled. At least I think so, I'm kinda new to all this myself lol

I'm moving this over to the Resorts board because they are experts on Codes/Rates Discounts and PINs..

That said.. we'll need some more niformation ...

- When is their trip scheduled for? If you are outside your cancellation window and if AAA won't apply the pin, you can just cancel with AAA and book with Disney directly. Normally AAA will apply the PIN directly.

- Previous poster was correct - If this is a package then AAA owns the reservation and you can not call Disney directly and make ANY changes to this reservation. :)

Thanks for moving this mod. I want to be certain when they talk to AAA.

The trip is in December.

I'm sure we can't do anything to the reservation (grand gathering's are much harder to plan this way).

Wow.. Well.. I'd still call the AAA agent and ask to have the PIN code applied to the reservation. Insist on it in fact. If the dates of the PIN fall within the dates of the reservation AND the resort they are staying at has availability on the discount then they should save some money at least.

But AAA might say "No savings" -- which could mean no discounted availability at the resort where they are on those dates. Or could mean the AAA agent was lazy.

After reading this post, just wondered.....can a pin code be applied in addition to a AAA code.
Also, I had the same prob. with my AAA TA, she did not understand the "codes" and even tho she said she called WDW for me, she always said the code was not available.

I'm a complete idiot. I LOST the postcard! I knew this wasn't going to be easy, so I packed it in the back of my SUV to hand to my mother at our soccer game on Sunday. Can't find it anywhere!!

So now I have to tell my parents to have the AAA agent call and under their name there will be a PIN code and to check it out. Shockingly, the AAA agent says she call and tell her no one will have this number, you MUST have the post card. Even if you call the marketing company that has does this promotion there is no way to find the number. It is completely random and they are out of luck.

Huh. I don't believe her because I've read about people who just ask if they have a PIN code and they DO have one and it is under their name. They just never got the post card. I know they are non-transferable but ARE LINKED TO YOUR NAME. It doesn't make any sense!

So I call myself and although I can't change the booking the agent gave me the PIN number.:confused3

As it turns out there isn't any availability during our trip where my parents want to stay but at least I no longer feel like I lost the winning lottery ticket.

Gesh. If I said nothing and just tossed the card, my life would have been a little easier this weekend.

No they are not always linked to your name, at least not with CRO. Some are but they may or may not be the ones you get on post cards.
Hey the lucky part is they still have the AAA res and that has the AAA discount [I am assuming here, since not all AAA reservation have a discount unless one was available when they booked]. And they get the AAA package perks as well. Will they have a Car? the Diamond parking pass is great to have.
Also depending on when they are going you can keep an eye out here for any codes that come out and if you see one go online and check out availablility for their dates and the total cost. as long as they cancel 45days prior to arrival they get all their money back from AAA, at least with most AAA offices, and they could just book under a new code then. If they were within the 45 days it would cost $50 to make a change anyway even to apply the code, at least that is what I was told by CRO yesterday.
