Can my DD ride a pony at age 8?!

Argh! I just got my daughter all excited about going pony riding at Wilderness Lodge - but see riders have to be UNDER 48 inches! That means very young children. She is 53 inches and 8 years old. Surely there is somewhere an 8 year old can go pony riding at WDW? Does anyone know?

IIRC the ponies at Ft Wilderness are literally that - Ponies, not full sized horses. That is likely influencing the height restriction. I don't know of anywhere else that offers rides with the horses on leads, which definitely makes it tough for the taller young ones that aren't old enough to do the trail rides yet. I wish I knew of an option for her! Maybe call and ask?

They are very strict with the height limit for the pony rides. I think your only option for an 8-year old at the ranch would be a horse-drawn carriage or wagon ride. Horseback riding has an age minimum of 9 years old.

I would definitely try to get a hold of someone at the Tri Circle. I follow Tim Tracker on YouTube and he just toured the new stables. He was talking with one of the cast members there and asking about the pony rides. There was a larger pony that she said was for 9 year olds, but also a much smaller pony in the corral that she said was for 8 year olds. Unless she was incorrect, and gave wrong information. This was just within the past few days.
