Can kids visit Palo just to look at the Masks?

I think my kids would like to see the masks that Palo has on display on the Magic. Would I be allowed to take them in to see, maybe in the morning before the restaurant officially opens? Or are kids not allowed anywhere near there?

I don’t think you’re allowed inside when it’s closed. They do a ship tour that goes inside, but I think it’s an adult only tour so the kids wouldn’t be allowed to attend that one.

Oh that's right! We did the art of the theme show tour - that's when I saw them. But when we got up to the restaurant, all the doors were open, etc, like they were always like that. I thought I remembered the masks maybe even being in the hallway outside of the restaurant doors. Probably not the case, but for some reason I thought they were perhaps viewable without a reservation.

Those YouTube videos people make of walking around the whole ship on port days or whenever always make it seem like the restaurants are always open to walk through.

We were on the ship tour that went into Palo during the day. As noted it's an adult only tour. But, I believe the doors may be open most of the day. This was taken from the doorway into the dining room, the masks are on the right.




If you try the door, and there's someone there, you could ask if it would be allowed (don't do this during brunch hours). But don't get upset if they say "no". If you think the kids will be very upset getting that close and hearing "no", then I wouldn't try.

On the Dream class, Fantasy I believe, I asked if I could show my son the ”special“ bottles of wine from the movie - 1961 Chateau LaTour and the 1947 Cheval Blanc at Remy. The staff were very nice and allowed us to walk in and see the bottles and even showed us a few other interesting bottles.

If you ask nicely and are not there at a very busy time, based on our experience they probably will allow a brief visit. Choosing a good time is the key.

In our experience, during the day, the doors to Palo are always open and you can certainly peek in, whatever your age. Of course, on Dream/Fantasy, you will probably have to ask the person at the podium if you can go in. On the classic ships, we find the manager is at the podium much less often. Your odds of success are much less if the restaurant is serving at the time of visi.

I did read a dining review or trip report at some point where a teen came up to say hi to his parents and see the restaurant while they were dining and they wouldn't let him in. But since it sounds like the masks aren't "in" the restaurant, more just in the waiting area, that sounds different to me. If you really want to I might give it a try.

Ha! Our kids did a cruise by the windows (I think we were on the Magic at the time, so they were able to do that). We were seated right next to the window. Both of us and our servers got a big laugh out of that!

Palo is open to make reservations on embarkation day and you can take the whole family at that time.

I have only found it closed once, it may have been early in the day or we may have been at port. I remember it was a logical time to be closed (no brunch that day)
