having already reserved 5 nights at SSR, book one of those same nights at AKL, in the hopes of moving over if I get a 2nd night? I want to do a split stay of 3/2 but there is not a second night at AKL available right now. I have enough points to cover it and would drop the night at AKL if it doesn't come up by day 31.

I think you have to have a different lead name on the reservation, but yes you can then book the same nights at a different resort.

Have you checked your banking deadlines to be sure you are not using points you need to bank?

You can have 2 reservations in the same name for the same nights. And you can do that online too.

Quick update. I did book that savannah view at Jambo, was not a problem. 5 minutes ago, in one of my many checks of availability, I saw that Kidani had both the nights I wanted so I booked them, then cancelled the Jambo reservation. I'm good for the 30 day mark as well as for banking time periods with a June UY. Thanks.
