Can I wear phone around neck to avoid bag check?

I would really like to avoid bag check on our DHS SWW day. All I will need in the park is my MB, my cellphone, a CC, TIW card, AP card and some cash. I will be wearing a sundress without pockets. If I buy one of those around-the-neck cell phone cases that has some pockets for CC's, will that be ok to bypass bag check?

I was thinking of something like this, unless someone has some other suggestions?!

Thanks so much!

I would wear it around it around your wrist going in like you are holding a camera or a phone. What's the worst they can say sorry it looks like a bag go through the other line

Maybe, but maybe not. I have seen some security let someone through with a phone case, but I have seen others sent back through baggage check.

I suggest wearing it with the phone facing out, so they can easily see it is a phone and not a "bag."

I think you'll probably be OK, but as the others say, it might depend on the attitude of the "guard".

Are you going with anyone else who could simply put it in their pocket, then give to you once past the "guard"?

I think they will want to lookk at it which means going through bag check. Could someone else put it in a pocket until you are in the park?

We were just in WDW for a week, and bag check never added more than 20 seconds to our entry. We never had to wait on a line, whether we entered before/at RD, at 10am, 11am, 1pm, or later than that, nor did we have a different experience at any of the parks. I'd just go on the bag check line and catch up with anyone with me that didn't go through bag check.

Undo the strap on top and have the phone "sticking out" a little and "show" them the Phone as you walk through.

Make "eye contact" with the Guard and wait until they "nod" you through.

I do it all the time with the "Mickey Camera Cases" they sell at WDW.

I wear them on my belt and "hold" the top "open" as I approach the "No Bag Line" and "stop" at the Guard so they can see the "contents" are a camera,mp3 player, etc.

I've never been told to go to the regular line doing it this way.:)

I haven't had a problem going through no bag area when holding my phone in my hand. It has no case so not bulky. Ymmv.

Bag check is a breeze nowadays probably because the wife is the one stuck in it! Just kidding. I carry the backpack with our stuff and it usually takes a couple of minutes.

Last trip I had a similar case and all I did was unzip and pull the phone out and say "Phone case ok?" (with a smile of course) and the guard let me in. Other wise I had cargo pants or my husband did and had the phone in the side pocket.

I'm sure it's case by case and what recent goings on drive the guards decision.

My husband has cargo shorts so I guess technically I could have him carry it until we are past the guards.

Maybe I will just give my DH my phone to carry. Wish my dress had pockets! It's a special dress for SWW so I'm not going to consider a new outfit at this point. We go to a WDW a lot, so I'm familiar with lines at bag check. I'm just expecting them to be a little longer on a SWW Saturday and was hoping to cut our wait time down. Thanks for your input!

Depends on the guard. I have made it through with a camera case, and I have been stopped and asked to go through the line.

Why the sundress? Why not something practical with pockets?

I bought a bunch of cargo shorts specifically to wear in the parks. I never had them before, but they are practical for theme park visits.

If its hanging around your neck, I would think you could just tuck it inside till through the gate.

that should be fine.
if you carry it in your hand it doesn't seem like anyone would even know that its anything more than your cell phone.
if if you carry it around your neck just toss it on the inside of your dress to avoid bag check.

i took a vera bradley tech case with a vera bradley lanyard with my phone, credit card, and cash into MK, universal studios, and seaworld last summer and just put it in side my shirt when approaching bag check and avoided bag check altogether.

although to be honest bag check really is not that time consuming.
i've never waited more than 2 minutes at any bag check.

I'm confused by this question. Why wouldn't you be able to bypass the bag check if you're just carrying a cell phone? A cell phone is not a bag.

DH had a cellphone in a soft case hooked to his belt by a carabiner. He was NOT allowed to go through the no-bag line. It's a bag. Small, and with just the one item in it, but it's a bag.

I would just hold the phone in my hand, personally, with the other things hanging from a lanyard.
