can I wear a fanny pack?

The British people are dying right now reading this thread :rotfl:

They are not stylish or cool, and personally I think they tend to be slightly less practical them some other bags since you will have to take them off for many rides. But if you like that style of bag go for it, you will not be the only one wearing a bum bag.

I have never had to take my fannypack off on ANY ride in Disneyland or WDW.

I mention in a later post it might have to do with body shape, my friend has a long torso and took his off on lot of rides because it got in the way of his safety bar/seat belt. He found it annoying, others have also said they had no issue so it really probably depends on the person.

I got one that had a pouch to carry a water bottle. it was just big enough to carry my camera, a water bottle, and all that pass/cash/credit cards/id needed for the parks.

I typically just push my around to my side when I get on rides with lap bars. It works pretty well. And it doesn't give me back pain like wearing a backpack or purse does.

I am in my 40's and I can tell you at THIS point in my life I could give a rip what people think of me. I wear a "fanny" pack or whatever you want to call it, crocs and anything else that makes me comfortable in the parks. When my kids were smaller and we had strollers we put a lot of stuff in there but now that we don't have those anymore we have to CARRY everything. And believe me we STILL end up with a lot of crap! We have jackets, water bottles and the invariable souveniers! So the last thing I need is a purse or other bag to carry. On our last trip my dh ended up buying a small backpack which was actually nice because it rained and we kept our umbrellas in there as well as our water bottles and other various items we acquired. I DO have a fanny pack and I still do take it on some trips but I have graduated to a messenger bag because frankly it is bigger and I have more junk to carry it seems that won't FIT in my fanny pack any more.

I usually carry my camera, wallet, glasses and various other items and I need a bigger bag. I do prefer the fanny pack though because I don't like having something over my shoulder all the time. It does start to hurt after awhile. Say what you want they may be ugly but they ARE practical and I have never had problems with them either. I wear mine in the front as well and they have never interferred with any rides and it is VERY convenient. When I am walking for hours on end and usually in a lot of heat or sometimes cold weather comfort is the key! Who cares what I look like!

And I will admit I use mine on other vacations where I am going to be walking around a lot. I am going to D.C. and New York in a few days and I am taking it there as well cuz we will be doing TONS of walking with no vehicle and I don't want to be lugging anything around.

So I say do what you think is best and to heck with what others think! ;)

I wear one, and I usually wear it under my shirt. I wear it on the front, and to the side.

I never take it off for rides.

Amen

It is one of the advantages of being more ... "mature"

Fanny packs are fine. You're on vacation, not a photo shoot for DisneyVogue! If it works, wear it.

However, at what time of year are you going. Right now, it's been 90+ degrees every day here. We bought Camelbak back packs, which hold anywhere from 1-3 litres of water. I'm not a big fan of extremely public drinking fountains and water bottles are, what, $5 each? We've paid for two of the Camelbaks already, this year alone! I usually drain my 3 liter bag in a day.

Security has let us through EVERY time with it. Snacks too. Just not a whole meal.

Have fun!

Amen! I'm 51. I wear my fanny pack (to the front) WITH my crocs AND with my DCL lanyard for my water bottle! Plus my lanyard around my neck to hold my tickets/fastpasses. Yes, I look like a tourist. No, I don't care. And no, I don't take any of it off for pictures in the parks, either.

I also wear the same get up for other vacations. Alaska, for one.

Be VERY careful if you're using the cheap plastic pouch DL sells for the fast passes/tix. They are famous for breaking! Often, the safety bar comes down over it and when the ride starts, and your body moves, it puts pressure on that plastic tab and POP, there it goes. Don't leave anything of value in that silly pouch. DW has a mesh pouch from Target that she keeps her drivers license, credit card, fast passes and season passes in.
