Can I visit a resort I am not a guest at?

I'm going to be staying at POP for my coming trip but would like to visit Port Orleans one day. I'd like to take the kids cane fishing, perhaps rent one of the two-seater boats, and try some beignets before we go for dinner at Boatwrights. As a quest at POP will I be allowed to drive over to POR or POFQ early in the day to do this, or will I be limited to attending that resort only just before my dinner reservation?

As a last resort I think I can always just park at Downtown Disney starting at about 10 am and then take the ferry up to POR/POFQ from there, but don't want to be forced back to Downtown after dinner if I can just park at the resort in the first place.

You'll be fine parking at POR or POFQ while you enjoy their recreational facilities. Just let the guard at the entrance to the parking lot know why you're there, and they'll wave you right through. You may be asked to show a photo ID.

You can absolutely visit other resorts. Simply tell the guard at the gate that you are there to look around, fish, eat, etc. You'll be asked to show a photo ID. Sometimes, we are given a temporary parking pass, sometimes not. We visited AoA this past May and they gave us a map and said "enjoy the resort".

There's no need at all to go to Downtown Disney and catching a bus or boat to any other resort.

Yes, you can visit a resort that you are not staying at. Just tell the guard that you are going in to have a look around. It's a lot of fun resort visiting.

The only caveat s that I don't think that you are allowed in other resorts' pools (except sister resorts like Port orleans FQ and POR).

You should have no problem visiting (and parking at) POFQ. You can enjoy the restaurants and activities (other than the pools) at any of the other WDW resorts. Just don't park at a monorail or EPCOT resort for the whole day and go off to a theme park.

Yes you can absolutely do this! We visit all the resorts on our trips, and not just to have dinner! We've rented boats at CR when staying onsite somewhere else, walked around POFQ & had beignets on our last trip too.

Just tell the secirity guard at the entrance what you are there for, they'll ask for a room card, or ID and you're good!

And yes, you could also just park at DtD and take the boat over.

Sorry to hijack, but on a similar topic...we're staying at Pop and have local friends coming to spend the day with us at the resort. Is that a problem? They obviously won't have a resort ID to show at the gate.

We had family come over and visit us at the CBR and they just showed their ID to the guard at the guard station and they were allowed to come on in. They spent several hours with us enjoying dinner and the resort grounds.
