Can I vent for a minute!

Only place where people would probably understand. We were supposed to sail on a Disney cruise Saturday, leave for Orlando tomorrow. Well we are not goin DH has a important deliverable at office.

Granted we have travel insurance which will cover full cost due to work reasons, granted we will probably go in Feb but I am really sad now. DH does not get it! I had Fe gifts ready, all outfits packed. Kids were pirates this Halloween so we did not have to buy 2 costumes. I see evry1 else in my cruise meet all packing and ready and am feeling so jealous.

Saturday will be so sad when will I can think of is the ship leaving and me not on it.

Feeling so depressed right now preparing the claim for the travel insurance!

I totally understand. You have my sympathy. Is there something special you can do with your kids as a compensation? I know it won't completely make you feel better, but maybe it will help a little. Maybe go to the movies and dinner?

While I do understand your sadness for not making THIS trip, I wonder if DH really DOES get it? My guess is he does. But, the key two words are "important deliverable" at work, are they not?

Usually travel insurance only covers weather delay and illnesses. I would double check you may be out significant money.

Think of it as a positive. You have Christmas to look forward to in the short term and then when it is wicked cold in February you will be so excited to be catching some warm rays on the boat.

This totally depends on the policy you buy-i would assume the OP knew this could happen an insured her trip accordingly-the one i get always covers canceling for work reasons AND military orders.

ITA! If you haven't already, call the insurance company directly and double check ASAP. I don't know what insurance you bought but for example, the travel insurance offered by Disney states specifically: This coverage does not cover loss caused by: (v) any business or contractual obligations of the Insured, an Immediate Family Member or a Traveling Companion

Just trying to make 100% sure you'll be covered It's bad enough to cancel but to lose your money too, ugh

If you already have checked and you're fine, I know it's very sad but with the holidays just around the corner hopefully they will ease your pain a little.

So sorry It happened to me about 7 years ago. I had the van packed, we were leaving the next mornign to drive to WDW... our first trip. DH called at 2:30 and said we couldn't go I cried and cried and cried. I understand... and it sounds like YOU are being a trooper!!!

I am so sorry. I understand. As someone who has a life that is totally run by work, we all know that something important must be important. But still, I hate when it happens and sometimes think about maybe making a change for me.

I'm sure your husband knows you are disappointed, though. He must have seen you making plans and getting all excited about it, yes?

And. February will be really, really nice. And Valentine's Day comes SO fast after the holidays, it will be here in no time.

DH does not get my disappointment coz he is like Feb thats just 2 months away which in the broad sense I do understand. But he is out 4 days a week in Boston while i am here alone with the kids. 10th dec was a day I was anticipating from August when we booked the cruise as the day I get a break from my routine.

I understand him having a job is somehting I should be grateful for but NOW this moment I cant help feeling sad. I just got the online checkin email from Jetblue. These ineveitable reminders are NOT helping.

I'd go anyway. Sorry but it's DH's obligation. If he has to stay behind, then he should be the one to sacrifice, not the entire family. JMHO (going to put my flame retardant suit on now).

I know it doesn't help you in the least, but, there are many posts from many people on these threads who would love to have a job now. You are right to be disappointed but try to look at the good side, if possible. He has a job.

It's just that I work for attorneys who do this constantly to their families. These families spend years being put on the back burner and it burns my butt. Once we had an attorney who was allowed to leave for the birth of his child, but was told he should return to the office the next morning. Then he worked continuously for the next week because something was due. I guess I'm just fortunate that I have a job and not a career. I figure if I got hit by a bus tomorrow the company would continue on without me.

I can totally understand how you're feeling. I'm so glad you are not having to cancel completely and are planning to go in February, but that does not help the hurt/disappointment right now I know. Try to think that it was just not meant to be at this time, for whatever reason, but start looking forward to going in a few weeks. I hope you have a wonderful time when you do get to go.

I totally know how you feel...we were supposed to leave on Sat to start our vacation in the Happiest Place of all. Sadly some personal things came up and I just didn't want to spend money I may need in a few months. I have been doing nothing but thinking about it, but know its for the best.

The only bright spot to my day was reading another thread that said it was going to be a high of 46 on Sunday in Orlando. I thought, oh I am so glad we won't be out in that weather...lol

Chin up OP, Feb is close by and yes, you are lucky for all the other stuff. But, really it is a major disappointment when the one thing you have looked forward to doesn't happen when it is supposed to. I hear ya!
