Can I use the Charcoal Grill to make S’mores?

I realize that this is might be one of dumbest questions I have asked before, but myself and DS 16 just had debate on this in don’t think either of us knew for sure. This would normally fall to my husband- but we are surprising him with 2 nights at a cabin next week and I just want to make sure I cover off on everything we need. We will want to make s’mores, but the chip and dale campfire not going on, just want to make sure we have a plan. Can we just use charcoal in the pit they provide to make enough flame or is this not going to work? Likewise, any other insight would be more than welcomed!
Also is P and J still doing larger family togo meals? Would rather than do that back food but will if need too

let the charcoal get covered in white ash, then make the s'mores as you normally would, BDD is correct, the charcoal heat is easier to control and works well

P&J’s is open so I don’t see why they wouldn’t have the family meals. I understand they opened the seating in Trail’s End for people to eat their P&J’s food.

I think a charcoal fire would probably be easier to control and likely produce a superior S'more!
I agree, charcoal will definitely work, and work well. However, it's been my experience you can't determine the quality of a S'more with just one sample. It will take 3, possibly 4, S'mores (or more) to get a true assessment of the S'more Chef's ability. 😎

Perhaps since the traditional cooking of the marshmallows over a campfire is unable to be achieved, perhaps one could branch out and innovate the traditional smores.

Reese's cups, Milky Ways, Mounds...all work very well in place of the traditional Hershey's bar.

Sugar or chocolate chip cookies or those chocolate striped shortbread cookies instead of graham crackers.

Can you tell I've spent a lot of time thinking about smores? LOL

...Definitely, you have to build a baseline and then do continuous random sampling.

Random sampling...Great idea! Perhaps it's time to have a "S'mores Cook-off Challenge" on your Loop (post covid, of course). Especially if you like Bianca and Bernard's ideas about different ingredients (I do, excellent thought!) then think of it as a S'mores version of a Chili Cook-Off. Okay all you grill masters, it's time to charcoal UP! I like it! 👩‍🍳

One can successfully cook a s'more over any heat source, when I want a s'more, I make a s'more.....over an electric stove even!!! My extended family laughs at me, but it can be done!!!

We have done the...microwave s'more :scared: (when outdoor conditions kept us inside)
