Can I use points to purchase a dedicated reservation?

We have waitlisted HHI, and I recently found a reservation from a popular rental site. I noticed in the listing that it has the number of points along with the total cost. (I realize that the cost per point listed in the ad is going to be much higher than actual cost per point.) Does anyone know if I could use my own points to purchase that reservation? I think I know the answer already, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Not really, no. This wouldn't make much sense - the owner is trying to get rid of a reservation. If you give them points, they will just have more points that they would have to figure out how to rent. And if they wanted the points in the first place, they would just cancel their own reservation.

No, but you could rent that reservation and contract to rent out your own points. It won't be a wash but will put it somewhere in between the cost of using your own points and renting the reservation outright.

I was thinking about that. Technically it's much more space that we need (it's a 2BR, family of 3 we only need a studio or 1BR), so unless I could get some people to come with us, I think I'm going to pass. Soooo close!!!! Ugh.
