Can I use Disney dining plan for fantasmic package?

No, you never need to specify that you will be using the dining plan when you are booking.

Restaurants will ask if you plan to use DDP when seated but that is mostly so they can help guide you on how those credits work at that particular place. Realistically you have up to the moment of paying to decide if you want to use the DDP credits or not. They’d need to fix the receipt to reflect the change though.

Dinner with entertainment packages work exactly the same. They are just a separate category when booking the ADR, like you can’t show up to regular Brown Derby reservation and ask for the Fantasmic package. That ADR would have needed to booked as the Fantasmic Dining Package. There’s a slight chance they could move you to the package but that’s not reliable because most of the time the show packages are sold out by ‘day of’.

You need to book under the Fantasmic Dining Package and then once you get there, let your waiter know that you are on the Fantasmic Dining Package and will be using the Disney Dining Plan to pay for it when you sit down. And for those curious about getting an alcoholic drink when using the DDP for the FDP, the answer is YES you can. My daughter and I ate at Hollywood Brown Derby in December on the FDP and she got a glass of wine as her drink using the DDP. You're using two credits for it so IMO it should definitely be included.
Yeah, Derby is 2 credits. Others are just 1 credit. Like Hollywood&Vine would be $81+tax for lunch&dinner, making it a great deal for DDP (~$97/day)
