Hi all,

We're packing our Christmas decorations for our trip next week :cool1:. We're staying in a 1BR at BWV and I wanted to hang a wreath on the door. I know that you can't put any sort of sticky hooks, or tape or anything, but can I put a wreath hanger that goes over the top of the door? Anyone ever done this?

Thanks in advance!

I've used one at OKW, but there isn't an interior corridor at OKW. The resorts tend to not let you decorate the interior corridors.

If it has any chance of damaging the door then they will not allow it i am not saying they will damage the door but just in case. Plus if they do rounds and think that it might get stolen they my ask for you to take it down so they dont have to deal with it if it dose get stolen. If a manager or securty or someone from house keeping walked by and make you take it down so they could inspect the door to see if it damaged.mybe hang it when yur in the room and take it off when you leave because you dont want disney to take it down they might charge it or for someone else to take it.

IF your a dvc memeber i dont think it be a problem since you have to pay mentince every year right. i hate to have you call to tip them off but i think that be the only way for sure to know if it allowed.

The best thing is to ask yourself if you would like it if guests in your house would do such things.

It's plain and simple and is stated in the bible thousand years age. Don't do to others what you would not like others doing to you.:rotfl2:

We use the over the door wreath hangers at BWV all the time. We go for Halloween and really decorate. Use the metal hangers as the plastic ones tend to be a bit thicker and the door won't close.

Have fun!

That good to know fir sure thanks know the op Dose not have to worry.

Since exterior doors are metal can't you use a magnetic hook? How about some of those Command hooks, the ones that come off easily without any damage. I have one of those in my house for the dog's leash and it has great staying power, but comes off easily.

We have a HEAVY duty door hanger magnet. It can hold like 40 lbs. I think it would be a good choice for the door for your wreath.

I don't think the BWV doors are metal. I think they're wood. I think I tried to put a magnet on the door last time as an experiment because people are always posting about it.

Not sure what you mean by this. Putting a wreath on a door with a hanger is a typical thing that people do over the holidays. I'm not "doing" anything to others.

Thanks so much! We plan to have a great time!

Wreath hangers, shoe racks, etc. that hang over the tops of doors often chew up the door and the frame.

We stay at the Boardwalk and Disney does a fantastic job of decorating, so you really don't need to add to it. Can you imagine how tacky the hallways would be if everyone felt the need to personalize their door?

Give me a break. What we are probably talking about is hanging a wreath on the inside of the door to decorate the interior somewhat. Even if it were to be on the outside of the door I think there is a difference between tacky and festive. Go ahead put up your wreath, enjoy the season and Merry Christmas!

Everything you put over the door will damage the paint and will shew up the door and the frame. The wrath himself will also scratch the door.
If you like it or not you will be damaging others property and again the question would you like it if your guests would "decorate" the doors in your house and in the end leave you with the damage?
"I'm not doing anything to others" is a lame excuse. In the end the cost of all the damage will be but upon the already high prices for the resorts.

Thanks - no cruise, just a trip to the World.

We brought a small handmade wreath instead and hung the yarn over the peephole. It was fine and didn't hurt anything!

If you haven't taken a cruise yet, then get prepared for the gawdy and awesome door decors and FE's!! (fish extenders) There is a group on disboards under the DCL part that sign up for exchanges of goodies on booked cruises. There are metal fish that extend from the wall of the stateroom door...well rather from the side of it. It was intended for DCL to use to stick an envelope in the slot of the fish for you, but cruisers have used it to hang their decorated (and eleaborately decorated I might add) hangers for their exchanges on there.

About 5 families get together and plan exchanges with each other on that cruise and drop off trinkets and goodies in the homemade pocketed thingies they hang from the fish extenders and IT IS FUN!!!

Cruisers also decorate their doors with all kinds of magnets and it is really neat to stop and look at them. Some even leave a magnetized pocket for others walking by to leave messages for them. Complete strangers leaving messages, but it is really fun!!!

Don't let others ruin your fun and as long as Disney doesn't have a problem with it, nor should anyone else. Hang your wreaths, magnets, ribbons, FE's and have a good time!!!

And BTW, if someone wanted to come to my house and hang a wreath on their guest bedroom door then so be it!!!! It's just a door!!!
