Can I upload music to Itunes from zipdrive?

We are faced with wiping out our computer. Reloading windows later this week because there are some nasty bugs on the hardrive I can't get rid of. I have lots of music on itunes. I have put it all on my ipod but wondered if I put the music on a zipdrive will I be able to put it back into itunes after I clean the computer and reload itunes? I have also saved my pictures to a zipdrive and was able to open them back up so I know I can put them back on the harddrive if I want.

You should be able to. You will need to save all your music files to some kind of storage device (flash drive, external hard drive, etc.). You will not be able to extract them from your iPod. You can even free up the space on your iPod and use that as a storage device.

The only music iTunes will let you upload is, any music you purchased on iTunes. If you have any music that you uploaded from cd's, then no; you can't upload them from your iPod. You need to save the actual music file itself. This is what will allow you to put it back on iTunes.

The Geek Sqaud at Best Buy told me to google Poddox and use that to get the music off my Ipod and back into my Itunes library.

Sharepod also does this. It is a program that is resident on your ipod and it takes all your music and places it in your windows music library. Then, you upload from that library to Itunes.

You can download programs that will let you transfer music from your iPod to your computer.

Took me a while to find it, but someone else needed help with this a while back. Here is a link to the thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2296978.

If you look at my post here (Post #11) you will see a link that shows you how to use your iPod to save and move your files. If your music library uses more memory than what your iPod has, you will not be able to do this.

Example: If your iPod holds 16G, and your music library is 18G, you will not be able to move the whole library. If your music library is less than 16G, then you'll be able to.

PM if you have any questions. I recently had to do this as our old computer was dying and we just bought a new one. It's really easy to do, but looks difficult if you've never done it. No special programs needed.

Just go to My Documents/My Music/iTunes.

Copy the whole folder onto your storage (thumb drive, external hard drive, etc.). Then when you get your new computer set up, copy itunes back into My Music.

You'll need to reinstall iTunes, though, and authorize your new computer to play your purchased stuff.
