Can I Upgrade Someone Else's Ticket?

I have an odd situation that I have not encountered yet and I was hoping someone might have experience with this. My friends are coming to visit next week and have tickets and reservations for 6/21. They would like to try to switch them to 6/18, but the day is one tier higher than they purchased (they have tier 4 and would need tier 5). From my understanding, upgrades may only be done at the ticket booths. They live out of state. Can I add her tickets to my account and drive over there and upgrade them for her at the ticket booth?

I upgraded a child ticket to adult at the gates this past week. In thinking through the process I went through for that I can’t see how they would have known (or cared) that I wasn’t the original purchaser of the ticket. He scanned the ticket from my app to start the process.

That said, my ticket did not involve an already booked reservation. I think they will lose their existing reservation when the ticket is upgraded and both 6/18 and 6/21 don’t seem to have any availability right now so that seems a little risky.

I don’t think they will lose their existing reservation. I upgraded my own tickets a few weeks ago and kept my reservations. I then had to manually cancel them (because we were waiting to go). I didn’t really pay attention to *how* the upgrade process was done at the time, but it sounds like it should be fine?

We are planning to also book a stay at Paradise Pier, which should theoretically open us up too the “hotel bucket” of reservations, which I realize may also be full, but they are flexible and could go any day 6/17 to 6/20 so hoping one of those days will be available through the hotel bucket.
