can I transfer a cash reservation into dvc points useage?

I have a trip planned, scheduled for may 22-26, I am on the wait list for beach club, if points come in can I switch it to a vacation club points reservation instead of paying the big fee for the room

No you cannot just switch a reservation as points inventory is separate from cash inventory.

Yes.. If you waitlist comes through, you can just take the room with points but you do have to cancel your cash reservation at least 5 days before your trip.

For clarification:

1. You cannot just swap a cash reservation for a points reservation. These are two different inventories.

2. If your waitlist comes through, you can probably cancel the cash reservation and use the points reservation instead. However, if you booked through CRO, you may have a penalty for cancelation. If you booked through Member Services, there usually isn't a penalty.

if she booked thru MS she has up to 5 days of the arrival date to cancel the ressie otherwise she will have to pay for the first night stay if canceled within the 5 days of arrival.
