Can I totally cancel my reservation?

My son, 1 nephew and I are all set for our vacation next year, i'm itching to book our vacation package at WDW site now.

Then here's my sister, who holds a Disney Visa Card, an AAA membership and all other stuffs that could or might get nice discounts, is thinking of coming along too. Though she's not 100% sure yet.

If i'm to wait for her to finally decide, my kids and I could run out of value resort rooms. If I book now, use my card to reserve, then later she decides to meet with us at WDW (she'll be coming in from ANC, my kids and I will be arriving from somewhere farther away), can i have my vacation package cancelled and the reservation fee credited back to my card?

If you book a room-only reservation, you can cancel up to 5 days before arrival with no penalty and get everything refunded back to your credit card.

If you book a package (tickets and dining), you can cancel up to 45 days before arrival and get everything refunded. At 45 days, you must pay in full and cancelling after then involves some amount of penalty. I don't remember what those penalties are, though, since I don't book packages.
 
Book what you want, without her in the reservation (yet), and use her Chase card for the package deposit (give her the $200 to pay the bill).

If she decides to go later, call in and add her to your room. They won't charge you for adding her, since she's just adult #2. If you've got a package, they'll add the cost of her ticket/etc into the balance due.

If a Chase discount (which generally will beat any AAA discount) comes out, call in and have it applied. Your reservation is already a "Chase" reservation.

You can make future payments using any card/method you wish. Only the deposit must be paid with the Chase card to qualify for Chase discounts.

And no, they don't care if the name on the card matches the reservation's lead guest. My friend books trips all the time with her husband's card (they don't have the same last name) and he rarely goes on the trip with her and their kids.

Oh i can't use her card myself. We're oceans apart. If ever she finally decides to go meet up with us, she'll be the one booking everything. And me cancelling my current package.

I'll be paying for my share and the kids' expenses of course.

Don't sweat the booking with the Chase Visa. The general public gets the same discounts Disney Visa holders get just 3 days later.
 
^are you saying I'll get the same discount even if I use my own regular credit card?
 
This is so frustrating. I'd tried finalizing the reservation 5x, but error notice kept on popping up. I sure hope i don't get billed 5 x $200.

Well, after 7 tries. Finally got my reservation confirmation number. Yey!

Since I don't live anywhere near US of A, will they still be sending over the package? I live halfway around the world.
 
No, you don't need to have a Disney Visa to get the discount. Disney Visa cardholders just typically get access to the discount about 3 days prior to it being released to the general public. So just keep watching for a general public discount to be released and then call back to see if it can be applied to your reservation or if there is a better option at another resort or room category you would like.

You'll find out about the discounts on this site quickly! Sometimes faster than on any other!
