Will My ps2 work on the tv s in the villa?" as annyone ever taken one .thanks alan :cool1:

You might want to ask on the DVC board (if those are the villas you are wondering about.) They are experts over there!

I'm almost positive you can at BCV but I'm not sure about the other DVC resorts. They all have DVD players now and I think you can hook it up through there. I know my Dbil was able to hook up his digitial video camera on the tv's to watch his movies.

DBil was all upset when he found out he could've bought his with him but didn't LOL

You should be able to bring it. We brought one when we stayed at POFQ in May and it plugged right into the front of the TV. ;)

let me be frank, and I'd say there are others thinking this......Why in the world would someone have to have their PS2 on vacation at WDW??? Let go for a change and have fun outside of your room!!!

My son loves his PS2! When ever we do "down time" and we do this quite a bit, the kids pretty much watch tv, while I sit out in the balcony or nap or read my Disney books or read the stuff they give you at the check in. Sometimes my son gets bored watching or playing with his toys and he wishes that he brought his game. One time he said he was home sick cause he misses his PS2! Oh well... he is only 8 and it seems like his game is part of his everyday life... Just like DIS Board is part of my everyday life.

My son-in-law brought his ps2 on his honeymoon with my daughter! :rolleyes1 Needless to say he brought it for our vacation at the Poly! Worked fine. He especially enjoyed having it when they had to return to the room while my DGS napped.

They do indeed seem to hook up everywhere. While Mom is getting ready there is a certain down time that needs to be filled with some form of entertainment for a teen (he gets tired of the WDW TV stuff real quick). Entertainment for me and my DS vary and allowing him to bring his video game system helps. :cool1:

Let me be frank. The parks aren't open 24 hours a day! Only so much you can do in a room before getting bored. I'd rather have a PS2 there to occupy the teenagers/young ones than hear them complain about "There's nothing to watch on TV."

Believe it or not, video games are not the devil. I grew up playing video games (Nintendo, Atari, Intellivision), and I turned out to be a pretty productive member of society. (I know you didn't say it was evil, but I'm just launching a pre-emptive strike)

I agree with Goofy-Blade, but I also know that lots of folks relax with the PS2, just like others (old people like me!) relax with a glass of wine.

DH and I finally broke down and bought our kids GameBoys so they could use them on the plane ride and in the room when they want to relax.

So, Goofy-Blade, while the others help Anikan and Obie-Wan behead the bad guys, come over to our balcony for a refreshing Gin and Tonic!

Personally, I agree. That's why we didn't tell DBil it was a possibility. ;) My DS and DH play enough video games at home, I don't want to see or hear them on vacation. Same reason why we will never get a DVD player for our car even though it seems that everyone else has them. During our downtime on long car trips or in our hotel room, DS reads his books or plays with his toys/board games he bought with him.

But that's just us! I really don't think it's wrong for other families to do it though. Every family is different.

Well, I would have bought it even without the plane ride, LOL. I am so busy most of the time that I don't get a chance to sit and play PS2 while being "attached" to the tv. So, I got the gameboy to play while in the aiport, plane, car, in-laws house, etc. The only unfortunate thing is that DD12 always wants to use it (she has the older version). It can be a lifesaver when I need to keep her busy. Last year I missed my plane to FL (Boca, not WDW), and I had to wait an hour till the next one. I played my gameboy & the time flew. I've considered bringing my laptop with me to WDW, as well as the PS2, but I think that with all the other stuff we have to lug along with us (DD2 has a lot of "stuff"), I think I'll just stick with my gameboy (maybe a new game, though)!

Hmm.

What about children who nap in the afternoon and the parents would like to watch a movie and unwind themselves? Esp when they don't have a balcony to sit on, or it's 104 degrees outside. PS2 play DVDs too, you know.

What if you drive 18 hours straight to WDW, check into your hotel, and your family wants to order in food and sit and play "Scene It" in the comfort of your hotel room for the night, so they'll be rested up and ready for the parks in the morning? Your PS2 will play that game as well. (this is exactly what we did our first night at Pop after that drive)

What if you're a night owl and around midnight not much is open and you'd like to sit and play some video games to unwind?

What if your kids wind down better with a movie after their bath?

What if, what if, what if. To me it's no different than having a tv or vcr in your room. The parks are not open 24 hours a day, some people can't and won't do the parks commando from dusk to dawn, and some have children that certainly can't do that. There are plenty of reasons why having a game system that doubles as a dvd player could be useful and relaxing in a room.

My worry would be that it got damaged or even stolen. I am sure it wouldn't, but make sure you put it out of the way when you leave for the parks. A lot of TV's have a very discreet panel at the front that pops open and should have the connection jacks you are looking for to plug the PS2 into. You can often miss them, I had a TV for a couple of years before I realized you could plug the stuff into the front, rather than pulling the TV out each time! If the TV is fixed into the cabinet, it might be more difficult to get the cables into the back connectionsif that's all it's got though. I haven't ever tried it so I don't know.

Hello Frank,

No response needed.....I think you said enough to i.d. yourself along with your stretch of the concept. But then again, I guess you never watched poltergiest and saw what happened with that TV....be careful! :teeth: You know what they say about assuming, i.e. "pre-emptive strike"???
However, you can disagree and probably not get struck down!

ah, a responsible response with debate. Thanks for the offer! Yes, the games, etc., are great for travel!

Great idea! We LOVE Disney Scene It! Last year, we were stuck in our room for an entire afternoon due to downpours. Other than napping (which none of us felt like doing), there wasn't much else to do. It would have been fun to have the game with us.

It's my vacation... just as much as their vacation. If playing PS2 during the down time will make them happy...then we should bring it next time. Just because you're on vacation doesn't mean they can't be on vacation too. There is nothing wrong with bringing PS2 on vacation. It's not like playing the game while in the parks or when dining. Disney = Happy! Why not make everyone happy! :flower:
