Can we bring containers to take home any leftover wedding cake? Ours is three-tiered...so we get the top layer...but what if there is cake from the bottom two layers left? It's expensive! I'll eat cake for lunch the next day!

I was told yes last week when I asked my sales girl. The contract says you can't take any food but she said the cake you can take home.

I'm taking the cake, as well as bringing containers for leftovers from the dessert party. We have so much food throughout the day I'm sure there will be a tin left over....why shouldn't the guests take some back to their rooms to enjoy??

Good luck trying to travel with the top layer home. I'm sure it's probably been done successfully, but not by us. We had ours flash frozen after the wedding hoping it would survive the plane ride home. When we got home we opened the cake box:scared1:and it was like someone put a grenade in the box with the cake.

The staff at you reception will actually box up any left over cake for you to take with you the end of your reception. You can also tell your planner that you want to save the top tier and again they will box it up for you. They will not however deliver it anywhere else so if you don't want to carry it make sure your planner knows who in your wedding party will be taking the cake from the reception.

As for the dessert party no one told me that I could not take away any of the desserts. I purchased boxes from the party store, they are were like chinese take out food boxes, in my wedding colors and handed them out at the dessert party. The staff actually helped put the goddies in the boxes. This was a tip from another Disbride.:thumbsup2

Our reception was at ADH and we were staying at The Boardwalk. After our reception we went for more photos with our photographer. We had requested through our planner to have our top layer boxed up and brought to our room. They also brought over our flowers, balloon bouques, our toasting glasses, our cake knife and server and anything else we had at our reception. This was part of the reason we wanted to stay at the same resort as our reception. They loaded everything on a wheeling cart and rolled it over.

We also had a DP and planned on taking any leftovers back to our room but there was nothing left.

Our left over cake (some of the 2nd tier and the top tier) was boxed up for us and sent to our reception site. Citricos refrigerated it for us and then sent it to POR for us after the reception. They have a fridge there so we just picked it back up on our way out of town after the honeymoon!

They boxed up our top tier for us. It didn't fit in our rooms fridge, so the hotel was nice enough to put it in their fridge for us! Although we did end up eating all of it before we left for home....

We are getting ours boxed as well. We have dinner at Shula's after our wedding so they are boxing up several pieces separately and Shula's has agreed to serve them to us as our desert. The rest is going back to our room but we were also told they would not ship it, we have to take it back in between the wedding and our dinner.

We had an Escape wedding and they boxed up our left over cake and put it in the limo with us. We then went to DTD for dinner, and the limo driver offered to take our cake to our hotel. I was so happy, I didn't want to have to carry it to dinner then back to the hotel. The hotel staff stored it in a fridge, and when we got back that night we called and they delivered it to our room!!!!! :goodvibes

Our top tier was boxed up in one box and the rest of the cake was in another. DH and I took the top tier back with us and it luckily fit in the fridge at the AKL. We ate on that the rest of the time we were there.

Mom took the rest of the cake back the ASMo with her and they had cake central in their room for the rest of the wedding party. Whenever someone wanted cake, they would just come over to the room and grab a slice. :rotfl:
