Can I take advantage of the free dining?

I'm booked from 12-16 to 12-20 at the Contemporary. This falls in the dates to have a free regular dining plan. However I've already booked the deluxe dining plan. Could I call and get a discount?

I want to keep deluxe, but in my experience I would still be entitled to a discount... right? Just the cost of upgrading the free plan to deluxe, which should be a lot cheaper than the deluxe plan I'm already paying for

Keep trying to get through. You can ask to have the free dining applied to your current package (assuming you don't already have a different type of discount). Then you would just pay the difference between the regular DDP and the DxDP. While a room only discount is frequently the better bargain when it comes to the deluxe resorts, if free dining works better for you then go for it. As for being "entitled" to the discount- that's kind of a debatable point. You would certainly be "eligible" for it, providing the resort still has rooms available for that discount.

I just got through.

My original vacation price was $6047. I already had deluxe dining.

The 30% room discount brought it down to $5466

The free dining(upgraded to deluxe) discount brought it down to $5104

Obviously I went with the free dining. It saved me almost $1000!!!

I'm surprised at those figures. How many people? Usually, a 30% off room discount at a deluxe is better than free dining, especially if you are paying to upgrade to DxDP.

It seems like it just all depends. My DH and I got a bb offer at Poly for free dining. We save a little more going with the free dining vs 30% off room rate. Either way, I figure they are going to get their money somehow.
