Dumb question: I know you can't take liquids, but I'm wondering if my DD & I can take a bagel from our house through security on our early morning flight?

We always take snacks & I was going to put some in our carry on, but she has me 2nd guessing things now.

Since a bagel isn't a liquid, yes you can take it.

We take snacks through security all the time. Like the PP said, as long as it's not liquid, you can take it!

Yep. Last August, I had cherries and grapes in my carry-on! They definitely wouldn't have lasted until we came home. No problems.

We pack sandwiches, fruit, snacks. When they offer the drink service and peanuts we get a lot of envious looks from the other passengers when we pull out our nice hearty meal.

I've told my wife we should pack a couple extra and sell them on the plane!

Bagels = Yes
Doughnuts = No

Yes on both - or is this an inside joke?

You can take a bagel with cream cheese already spread on it but not a bagel and a container of cream cheese unless it is 3oz or less and in your 3-1-1 bag. Same with a sandwich, condiments are fine on the sammy, need to be in the 3-1-1 bag for security.

We always pack a meal with breakfast foods or sandwiches etc and lots of snacks and fruit and then buy a drink after security. Use frozen grapes or baby carrots as an ice pack and your set.

Just watch for things like yogurt or pudding as they are subject to the liquid rule, if it can't hold it's shape outside of the container it is a liquid.

I would think the donuts wouldn't make it past the TSA. :rotfl:

Those little condiment packets you find at fast food restaurants should be OK, right?

Yes. And you can take small condiment packets with you! :) Once you get through security, you can get anything from a food counter and take it on the plane.
