Can I switch to DU after making my own ressies online?

I am soooo new to this board. Everyday I'm learning new things about planning a WDW vacation. So, just now I read up on Dreams Unlimited. I really wish I knew about them sooner! Sounds like just what I need.

I already made my Jan 2005 reservations online with WDW for room only. Can I switch over to DU and have them try to discount my room for me once the codes come out (if/when they do)? Or am I stuck doing the rest of this on my own?

Also, here's what I really want to do: try to get a better view at the Contemporary, but it's all going to depend on what the discounts are. Can I expect DU to ask about all the rates and try to get me the best view? I guess I'm really not sure what they do.

I think the more I visit these boards, the more overwhelmed/confused I get. That's why it's time for the professionals...lol.

I think you can do that. I believe there is a place on the quote form where you can enter your existing ressie number... so you can transfer your existing ressie over.

My travel agent tried to do this unsuccessfully.

(I had booked something on-line on the weekend at a time when the travel agent was closed. The particular WDW resort was showing as "unavailable" during the previous week and some rooms opened up over the weekend.)

The CRO gave him a hard time with it. The confirmation number had a prefix that identified it as an on-line booking.

We had him rebook the ressie (there was still availability showing) and I cancelled the one that I had made myself. I had to pay another deposit to confirm the new ressie and got a refund on my cc for the cancelled ressie. However, due to the conversion on my Canadian dollar cc, I lost about $50 on the conversion of my original deposit back into Canadian dollars.

My understanding is that if you book yourself by phone, you will have no problem subsequently tranferring it to a TA.
