Got a rate this morning from National for 134 total for Sept 9-16 for a full size car. Does anyone think I will do better closer to September? Or can I stop playing?

I got a great rate last night, and I am done. I am not sure if you will do much better. You might watch the boards and if anyone gets a better rate, you might try it again. But I am tired of looking, so I am calling it quits!!

I think you are right. And I agree with you about being tired of looking!!! By the way...Central Indiana...whereabouts? I was a Ball State Cardinal.

I agree with you both -- that's probably about as good as it gets.

powellrj -- THANKS -- I saw your post last night, checked the rates for National and got a full size for 8 days, all taxes included, for $136.46, which was about $75 lower than National's lowest rate in the past and $35 lower than Budget at the Doubletree Hotel in DTD. Now I'm going to relax and wait for my trip!!!

I got some great rates last night on rentals. :thumbsup2

National must have lowered thier prices for just a short time, using the same codes today, everything is more then twice what it was last night.

You can stop playing anytime you want. Just turn off the computer (or surf somewhere else on the web if you prefer).

One of these days someone will invent a program similar to Southwest's Ding that spans all airlines or spans all car rental companies and tells you the best deal. Most likely it will be a hacker doing it for fun rather than a travel agency since the latter undoubtedly won't want to hire a coupl'a software engineers to do it without the prospect of getting some commissions.

Travelocity does have a multi company search but that lists only the everyday low prices, not the code specials. Because of the numerous complaints I have come across I nowadays suggest that although you can look on Travelocity, it is better to book directly with the provider.
