Is this allowed...
8 people checking into a 2 Bedroom on Saturday night. On Sunday, 3 of those people would leave the 2 Bedroom and check into a 1 Bedroom where they would remain for the duration of the vacation (5 add't nights). The other 5 people will also stay on for an add't 5 nights in the original 2 BDR. And if that's not enough...we all want to do the DDP. It reads like a logic problem.
I appreciate any information. Thanks. :3dglasses
(yes, trying to minimize weekend points)

You can do it but you'll have to pay for all 8 for the 2 BR plus the same 5 for the 1 BR. Or you could just get if for those in the 1 BR and not for the entire group. You could also manipulate the list in the 1 BR if you need to up to the occupancy that DVC will allow in that unit.

So, you are doing a 6-night vacation total.

If you did what you wanted to do, you'd have to pay for the dining plan for 8 x 6 + 3 x 5 because if you elect the dining plan, then all on a reservation must do the dining plan for the length of stay of the reservation.

Could you do a 1-br for 6 nights and a 2-br for 6 nights? Or perhaps those 3 people could check into a studio for the first night?

Yes, you can do that if all 8 want the DDP for the 6 days. In this case, all 8 would have room keys for the 2BR for all 6 nights and the DDP credits would be available to everyone for the 6 nights/7 days.

The 3 moving to the 1BR do not need to purchase the DDP for their stay in the 1BR since they will already be included in the 6 night stay in the 2BR.

If some of the group do not want the DDP, then you have a problem since all 8 need to purchase the plan for the length of the stay in the 2BR - but , as Dean mentioned , the plan could be used for the 5 nights in the 1BR instead of the 2BR (6 nites) if some don't want the plan.

God Webmaster Doc, you're good! All the information was great. I love these boards. :3dglasses

Or, you could split the reservations.

1. Reserve one night for 8 people, with dining plan, in the 2 bedroom.

2. Reserve 5 nights for 5 people, with dining plan, in 2 bedroom

3. Reserve 5 nights for 3 people, with dining plan, in 1 bedroom.

You're simply making two reservation out of the 2 bedroom unit.

By doing this, you avoid the confusion of which ekys have the dining plan added to them. The group that splits off would have their dining credits on their 1 bedroom key.

I would think this would be less confusing for everyone, especially member services.

True, but if you split the reservation in that fashion, you would need to vacate the 2BR by 11:00am and may not get another villa until "after 4:00pm" the following day. If you request that the stay be linked, the DDP will need to be applied to the entire 6 day stay - thus defeating the purpose of having separate reservations.

By adding the DDP to the original 2BR reservation, all 8 guests will have the DDP encoded on their room keys for 6 nites/7 days. If any other plan is used, there will be a duplication of charges for the DDP and a situation where EVERYONE will need to vacate the 2BR and have a 2nd checkin the second day.

I see no advantage to adding the DDP to separate reservations as suggested above when the same result may be achieved without the need to change rooms.

We've actually done this a couple of times and it wasn't a problem. Unless they've changed something since last summer, it worked perfectly.

I think the resort recognizes the utliity in not making you change rooms, as it saves everybody, including the resort staff, the time and effort to do a complete room change.

If you link the two reservations, you do not need to change rooms. But, if you link them, then you have to get the DDP for all nights. Two linked reservations are treated as a single reservation with regards to DDP.

If you do not link the reservations, then the DDP can be applied separately. You will need to check-out (on paper) of the one unit and check-in on the other. You are not guaranteed you will be able to remain in the same unit. It all would depend on how the other 2-b/r villas were being assigned based on the days needed by other DVC members.

I understand what you're saying, but we did this exact thing with no issues.

If you're going from one reservation to another, the same size accomodations, they're not going to increase their workload by moving you to a new room. It makes fiscal sense to keep you in the same room, and they seem to understand that.

This is going to cause them to do a complete room cleaning for two rooms, instead of one.

I'm just posting my expereince.
