The last few days I haven't felt well so I've been home reading the DIS a lot. I've been reminded often of that old SNL show when they did point/counterpoint and the one character would say to Jane Curtin's character "Jane you ignorant....." In my head, I call it "Juis"ing and keep thinking "you've been juised."

Does anyone else remember that episode and find themself thinking back to that line while reading the inevitable debates that arise on the DIS?

I can't say it's ever occurred to me to think that line, but I can say I can see why it has occurred to you. That was a great bit :)

I definitely remember that line (Dan Aykroyd said it to Curtin), and over the years have substituted other people's name for "Jane". Initially everyone got the joke, but I guess now it would only have meaning to people from my generation.

I'll go you one better: are any of you old enough to remember the real news feature that inspired the gag?

Yes, kiddies, that's right; that joke was inspired by real news broadcasters. It was an occasional closing feature on 60 Minutes, called Point/Counterpoint. The dueling journalists were Shana Alexander of Newsweek (as the liberal POV), and syndicated conservative columnist James Kilpatrick.

Yup, classic SNL sketch, back before the show sucked. Remember it well.
Parody of the Point/Counter point segment that used to run on 60 minutes in the 1970s.

I think I will fix dinner in my Bass O Matic.

I still can't see a plumbers crack and not think of Lisa and Todd and Lisas moms Norge!

I don't remember, but I'll try while I wear my red-hooded sweatshirt

You are all a bunch of bum lookers!

(This one might be pretty obscure)

AND, why some of us don't! :teeth:
