Can I skip Day 1 of a ticket window?

Hi, planning our first trip to Universal after being loyal annual Disney-goers for years. We are planning for 3 park days (Fri - Sun) around the President's Day weekend and could potentially do an additional half-day in the parks on Thurs when we arrive mid-day. With the current promotion, there is a 5-day ticket for the price of 3-days which got me thinking. Could we start our 8-day ticket window on Tuesday or Wednesday before we arrive (when the cost of a ticket is cheaper) and not use the ticket on Day 1 or Day 2 of our ticket window? Or do we need to start using the ticket on Day 1 of your window (i.e., Thursday)?

You can skip. Day 1 is just the first day the ticket is valid for.

We did, I think we first went on day three of our window. Saved us about $75 compared to starting the window on the day we arrived.
