Didn't do as much scrapping as I wanted to this week (only a 2 page Germany layout added to DH's military album in siggy below)..... BUT........ I did finish a frame I purchased at www.memoriesandmats.com that I posted about a couple of months ago. Great site -- check it out....and their examples.

Anyway, I had to pick my 8 pictures, scan, edit & re-size to 2.5" x 3.25" & print. It's a bit hard to see in the photo...but I also decided to "label" the pics with the trip place & year before printing.

I REALLY LIKE HOW IT CAME OUT!!! All the pictures blend well with the mat color I chose. The pictures are:
1992 Bar Harbor, Maine
1999 WDW
1995 Pennsylvania Dutch Country
2001 WDW
1994 Washington DC
1997 New Hampshire White Mtns
2000 WDW
2002 New Hampshire White Mtns

And best....it fills an awkward bare living room wall I have!!! :)

very kewl! Maybe once we get our new computer/printed I will give something like that a try! Also the other pages on there were great!
Do you use that template I have seen in the stores? or just wing it yourself?

Which layout are you referring to? Or are you talking about the VACATION frame?

On the "I love Lucy" cat layouts, I used a DeluxeCut colorblocking template for design layout. In DH's military album, I also used one on the AIT layout.

The VACATION frame has the letters cut into the frame mat.... you just place pictures behind the mat.

Hope that helps.

SplshMtn99 - I love the Vacation frame and the Germany pages of the Army Album came out great! You continue to inspire me to start DH's AF album!!

Thanks. The Germany page didn't come out as good as I had hoped. Those pictures he had to work with were so depressing -- old brown grainy pictures. Yuck!

After that.... I needed to work on something colorful. Thus, the vacation frame. And an Animal Kingdom layout I'm working on right now. LOL

Oh...you want to see NICE AirForce layouts....head over to TwoPeas....in the military category. Some NICE ones added lately there. :)

Splsh,

WOW! Your vacation frame looks awesome!!!:earseek: You picked really great pictures for it!! That's such a great idea for a gift!

I love the Germany pages too! Great font choice!!! Which font is that anyway? It was VERY appropriate for your page!

ooooohhh Animal Kingdom!!!!!!

Splsh --

I have been lurking on the TwoPeas site and have bookmarked several military layouts to my book of scraps....I also posted a non-military one there recently that was for the trading pages....you can search two peas by my user name, which is the same as here on the disboards.

I need to post more pages to get some feedback on how I can improve, etc.

Cass, yes... isn't the frame GREAT! I LOVE IT!!!! :teeth:
The Germany font is "Maiandra GD". It probably came with one of my MANY graphics type software. With the close to 800 fonts I've accumulated  I DOUBT I downloaded it off the web. Email me if you don't have it or can't find it.
Oh & thanks for the compliments....but I REALLY don't think it deserves it. I've done much better layouts.

(OK, next project might be to organize all those fonts so I can find one when I need one. sigh...... FontLister....here I come!)

Poohbear, OMG... I found your layouts on TwoPeas. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!! You do GREAT work. That's perfect. It really makes mine look like ****. LOL You certainly don't need to learn anything from me. I should be asking YOU for help! http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=140915

Splsh ---

Thank you....I have to say that those layouts were the most daring I have done. I am usually much more boring in my own layouts. I really felt challenged by doing someone elses photos. The asian print is actually paper-backed silk. i got it at CC Lowell on Park Ave in Worcester....near Thai Cha-Da....Its a great art store and they have tons of unique papers...handmade, fabric etc.

Your pages are excellent and I definitely learn a lot from seeing your pages and others...like Timon's!

Poohbear......I'm not kidding when I say this.... and I've never said this to anyone before.... BUT .... you REALLY should submit that to a magazine!!!!!! Whoever received those pages was one lucky duck!

:o :o okay, now I am blushing....thank you so much!!!

The pages are now in RRBB's scrapbook!

Great job - I really like it! Thanks for sharing. :)

Jill

Splsh,

I still think you deserve Kudos for the font choice! I also have like 8 billion fonts (okay, slight exaggeration there :p ) and often I spend SO MUCH time just looking for a font, sometimes when I am stuck, I could spend two hours :o So I know it's hard sometimes and the more you have the worse it gets! And I really think that font was the right choice! I checked and I have it, but never really looked at it before, so thanks for bringing it to my attention :)

BTW, this is what I do for fonts...although I have to update it I still use it. It does take some time to do though !

In Word, I pick all the fonts that I think I could use for scrapbooking, (like I said, it takes awhile :))and then I type the NAME of the font and then use that particular font for that word. I put those pages in page protectors and then keep them beside me in my scrap room. I have two lists, one for TITLES and another for JOURNALING.

Here's a few pages from my TITLES section, so you get the idea.

Timon: that is so smart! I am going right now to Word to type all my fonts out and print them out. I can never find what I'm looking for!

Splash: your vacation frame looks great! I really like how you labelled everything. Now you won't be squinting at it years later thinking, now where was that? Really cool!

Cass, thanks for the font idea. I just saved your picture of the Word document so I can go search for MORE fonts. LOL....... What? That wasn't the purpose of you posting? LOL

I have FontLister (downloaded off web somewhere). It will print the name of the font along with any sample I want..... so for ex: I typed GERMANY as my sample & it shows me what GERMANY looks like in the fonts I indicate. (As in..... I didn't know I had Maiandra font either. :) )

I DO have to go sort them into titles & journaling though. I've been meaning to do that for some time. It would make life easy.

And I did want to print a sample of AaBbCcDdEe...... in all fonts to have on hand.

SOMEDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Right after I clean out those bookmarks too.)

Oh...and FontLister lets you uninstall fonts & still view them. All you have to do to use an uninstalled font is.... open it...and minimize the font...then it appears in your Word list of fonts --- you don't need to actually install it..... OR so I'm told. Having less fonts installed (when you get to as many as you & I have) will help speed up computer at start up.
